Availability within 10 days of arrival...

I've heard that within 10 days of arrival, you are better off calling Member Services to check availability rather than checking availability online because there could be differences whereas >10 days out they are both the same. Does anyone know if this is true or not? Just wondering if it's worth calling and waiting even if it shows no availability online. Thanks for any input!
 
I was told if the system is working properly, we see what they see.

Yes, the website specifically says to call in for check-in dates within ten days. They might be able to pull back inventory previously released for cash reservations.
