I am currently considering purchasing and when talking to my guide and asking about availability I feel like they are making it seem like anything is available for my trip in seven months if I go. So my question is for any members online if you plug in November 6th to 11th are there studios and 1 bedrooms available and where. Member services has told me to talk to my guide but I want to make sure and not just get a general yes because he wants to close a sale. Thanks for any help!!

Your guide can often work some magic for you on your first reservation. Insist the he does for you to buy. If there are rooms in the cash inventory, then can often get them switched out, etc.

He wants to close a sale....use that to YOUR advantage

Currently, the only resort with availability on those dates is a 1 bed room at Saratoga Springs. Everything else is at best "partial".

So, INSIST he make the reservation for you.

Thanks for the quick reply! There aren't even any studios available for those dates either?

We cannot check availability for you. It is a rule on this board.

But I can tell you that the fall is the most popular time for DVC and rooms are hard to come by. You will most likely have to do split stays at 2 or more resorts or waitlist.
If you are not looking to stay at WDW, I am sure you will find space in Aulani or Vero Beach.

You could make your purchase contingent that you get you week at a WDW DVC Resort before signing.

Thanks for the replies. I guess my last question is should there be any problem getting the week I want at my home resort at 11 months out. Are there availability issues for resorts even at 11 months out for mostly studios or even 1 bedrooms?? Thanks so much!

Depends on home resort. There can often be issues getting Studios at certain resorts, even at 8AM at the start of 11 months. The challenging bookings include VGF studios, Boardwalk Standard Studios (particularly September-Marathon), BCV during Food & Wine, AKV Value and AKV Club.

1BRs, pretty universally, are an easier booking, save for AKV Value and Club.

Guides absolutely overstate availability at 7 months, and since they're mostly selling Poly direct, don't really address other resorts at 11 months.

What property are you specifically looking at?

Nov 6-11 is a popular dvc time... Studios will be tough at near park resorts. The hardest studios to get are the value/concierge at akl, GFV, std or bw view at bwv, bcv. One beds are less tough.

If you're looking at the 11mo mark, you should get most studios or 1bds except guarantees for GFV and value/concierge at akl.

Hope this helps!!

It was a general yes to close a sale. Many people who bought SSR when it was for sale were upset when they could not get BWV or BCV during the food & wine festival, their guide said they wouldn't have a problem at 7 months.

Buy where you love to stay for the 11 month booking advantage, don't buy a resort because that is what they are selling direct at the time, all resorts are available.

At 11 months out, you can usually get what you want but the following have had difficulties even at 11 months out: (a) AKV club level, year round, (b) the grand villas at OKW that are in the near hospitality house booking category, year round; (c) AKV value rooms during the high to extremely high DVC demand quarter from late Sep to marathon weekend in Jan and also once in a while during the rest of the year; (d) BLT standard view mainly during that last quarter, although on a rare occassion the dedicated 2BR or a studio (and resulting 2BR lock-off) can be a problem during the rest of the year; (e) BWV standard and BWV boardwalk view studios (and resulting 2BR lock-offs), and to a lesser extent the grand villas, during that last high demand quarter of the year; (f) VGF studios (and resulting 2BR lock-offs) at times during that high demand quarter and on a rare occassion during the rest of the year, also 1BRs but only at a few times during last quarter of year like first week of Dec.If you are looking at the non-WDW resorts, there have been no issues if booking exactly 11 months out except for the standard view grand villa at Aulani, which often has 11 month out issues many times of year.

You should not buy absent a guarantee from the sales rep that you will get what you want in Nov. I do not even need to look at Nov availability to be able to tell you that you are not going get a studio for Nov 6-11 at WDW using the normal DVC reservation system except possibly SSR and even that is questionable since you will be beyond the seven month window when you reserve; there may be some chance for a 1BR at SSR, OKW, AKV, or VWL but you should not assume it will be easy,.

Spend a good 6 months investigating, maybe stay by renting from a member. As for availability, most things are available if you're on the computer at 8 am a full 11 months out but not everything. High demand times and options may not be available. Availability at 7 months out is not guaranteed but you can get most options over time with planning, you just may not get a specific option routinely.

Step back and make sure you understand what you're getting into. DVC is a timeshare with potential benefits and savings and a lot of variables. Resale is generally much cheaper and usually a better deal even with the limitations. I assume you're looking at the Poly retail or possibly Aulani. I'd only buy either if I planned to stay there most of the time and that goes double for Poly. IMO both are poor choices just to get into the system to use for different resorts over time.
