Availability of any Orlando Marriott resort?

Hi all. We're making a last minute trip to Orlando and will be there April 2nd to April 8th or 9th. We literally just decided to do this the other night.

We are going to spend most of the time relaxing by the pool so I wanted a great resort with a pool. We have 5 in our family so we are looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom.

I contacted someone on Redweek Monday morning to rent their time at Marriott Grande Vista. They also asked if we would take any other Marriott property since GV fills up soon. I told them that would be fine.

I guess my question is, I know it hasn't been a ton of time but does it take 2 days to check availability?

I don't mean to be impatient and I'm very thankful that I found someone on redweek to work with especially at the rate they are offering but I kinda need to know if it's a go or not so that if I have to move on to the next step like ebay, another redweek owner, skyauction, I can.

You don't need to wait. Keep checking, and when you find what you want, book it. If they need to rent their week, they'll contact you.

Have you checked also with just booking at Marriott.com?

The main difference (other than it's not prepaid) is that you'd get maid service daily.

I see April 3rd for a week for $214 a night for Harbour Lake at redweek ($1500 total) for a 2 bedroom.

Same week at Royal Palms for $200 a night. For Grande Vista, I see April 2nd for a week listed for $200 a night, and April 3 for a week for only $157 a night (2 bedrooms each).

I checked on Marriott's website. For April 2 to 9, with AAA rate (play with rates, I'm not sure if you have AAA or any other special qualifications, such as government or military) you can book the Royal Palms or Sabal Palms for $241 a night. With that, you can cancel within their policy, you don't prepay, and you are treated like a hotel guest with full maid service daily. I'd rather do that if you're looking at $200 a night already, or at least consider it.

Good luck!

thank you, Happymommy. Well, since this is a last minute trip it's really a budget trip too. ;) The big trip this year is a 9 night cruise in August to celebrate our 25th ann. and my DD's graduation.

I was offered $750 for the week or 6 nights, whatever we were going to use.

So, I should just move on and if I find something else I just tell the other people I found something else? I just wish I knew if there was any availability for the other ones cause i don't want to waste my time trying to find Marriott when there really isn't anything.

After looking at Imperial, Royal and Sabal Palms villas we'd love to stay there over a lot of them in Orlando.

Depending on the arrangements that you made with the timeshare owner it may take a few days to finalize the transaction. The owner may have made an exchange request, probably through timeshare exchange company Interval International, for your dates and is waiting for them to make the match. Unlike a hotel reservation system with available rooms waiting to be filled, timeshare exchanges are made when an owner reserves a particular week and then deposits it with the exchange company for use by someone else (as opposed to using the week themselves).
The Marriott timeshare owner that you're dealing with may think that you understand how all of that works and are okay with waiting for an exchange match to be made. I think you should contact the owner and ask about how the process works (and where they are in that process) before you just move along. It's unlikely that they are just ignoring you but, rather, that they are following a process that's just different from making a hotel reservation or renting a home.

thank you, Dick. I appreciate that and that makes total sense to me. I will jot them an email just to get a sense of where we are. :)

I heard from them and they said there is NO availability for any of the Marriotts in Orlando. Wow.

So, I tried a Hilton timeshare on redweek, no go. I've tried a Vistana Resort, no go. So I'm trying another Vistana on Redweek.

I don't know exactly why but I just don't feel comfortable yet renting from someone on ebay. Maybe if I get desperate I'll try it.

Anyway, we'll see what this one brings. Wish me luck!
