Anyone else have this new type of Epi pen? Did anyone have any travel issues with it?

I have it, but it will be my first time traveling with it. I'm concerned the new shape will confuse security.

Help! Feeling very anxious about this!

We have them for our son but haven't traveled with them yet. However we have a trip coming up on the 22nd of this month! If it's not too late to let you know that weekend, I'll be happy to let you know.
I figure too, if they question just pull it out of the case and let it start talking ;)

I have them. We travelled in October with 4 EpiPens (5 on the way home) and 2 Allerjects (Canadian name for Auvi-Q) and had no issues at all. Be sure to keep them in a separate clear zip top bag (any size) and write 'essential medication' on it. Take it out with the liquids and gels and place it in the bucket at the X-ray machine. We travel with full sized (>100 ml) bottles of Benadryl in that bag too. Never had an issue in Canadian, American, or international airports.

Remember to keep them with you, not in the overhead compartments on the plane. :)

Have a great trip!

We leave on the 1st, so if you get a chance to tell me, I'd love to know how traveling with it went. Hope you have a magical time! I know we can't wait!

Thank you so much for the tips! I'm anxious about being separated from my liquid Benadryl, too. I'll get my ziploc gallon bag ready and it sounds like I should be good to go!

I have an Auvi-Q that has been through Airport Security about 20 times this year. I always have it with me in my carry-on bag, and I send it through the x-ray machine. I have never been questioned or even had my bag re-ran through the x-ray. So... don't worry.

Just make sure your medications are in a separate bag from your usual liquids and gels bag (the one that has restrictions) and you'll be fine. I look like a walking pharmacy in the security line with EpiPens, Allerject (Auvi-Q), inhalers, chambers, MedicAlert bracelets, liquid Benadryl, etc. and never have issues. :)

Haven't read any other replies yet, but if you have the actual prescription information with you and the box the Auvi-Q came in, that would help. That being said, I've never known anyone to have issues with medical devices like this before, even being a different design than the epi.

This in not correct. TSA employees don't look at prescriptions and you don't need the original box.

Wow - thanks everyone for your help and reassurance!! You have no idea how much I appreciate it. This is why I love the Dis!

Just got back from a trip with 2 Auvi-Q's. I actually had them in the bag with my other liquids. Did not take the box but there is an RX sticker on them. No problems at all.

As I said, it isn't necessary. I was simply responding to the OP question that it might be helpful in the event that a TSA employee isn't familiar with it. It is true that they cannot prevent her from taking it, but it COULD avoid any questions or delay.
