Had to post here because only other Disney addicts like myself will truly appreciate this. DD10 is doing a camp that takes me right by the autotrain in Lorton each day just before 9 to drop off and just before 4 to pick up. I keep thinking, what if I just drove up & got on? ;) Five months seems just so far away . . .

Hear ya, though not a fan of the Auto Train....10 hour drive for us and we never use a car in WDW, we do use regular Amtrak...

Every tine we hear. Train whistle in town we link at each other and say "we ought to be on that one headed to WDW" !

The only time we use Amtrak is for going to WDW and that's at least 20+ times via the train ...

I hear ya!

Trying to convince hubby to do autotrain again for our 2013 trip. He is convinced flying is better because we would only be on the plane for 3 1/2 hours.

I have not flown in years(therefore have never had to deal with all the new TSA hassles) and would be fine if I never set foot in an airport on on a plane again!

Though he keeps pointing out that we would have extra days in disney if we fly... What to do, what to do...

I'm not a fan of flying either and the quote of cutting into my Disney time doesn't work with me....we still do 9-12 nights by train... ( our train trip is 38 hours) I enjoy the down time on the train, being able to watch out the window as the country rolls by...

I personally can not see me getting on a plane ( have flown 2 times long long time ago) see no reason for all that stress and anxiety, no matter how quick it would be... Especially knowing I have to return home via a plane ruins the whole vacation.... My wife enjoys flying but understands my wishes to travel to WDW by train and enjoys the time relaxing.... Good luck!

Once we decided to do round trip because my increased work schedule, I really wanted to fly to have the extra time but DD10 really has her heart set on sleeping on the train.

I know what you mean. I think my daughter is more excited about sleeping on the train than anything else!

There is the mystique and magic aboard a train... When our children were young, we did quite a few train trips to WDW, remember back when smoking was allowed in the coach cars...

Our children were so excited just to be on the train, coloring, playing games and munching what we brought aboard...then night came, car gets dark at 10pm and they would stretch out and cover up in their seats.... Morning would come , we'd be in Florida and after breakfast a few hours from WDW.. It's memories like that that made it all worth it....
