AutoTrain Question

Hi - We are planning on going to Disney in November 2007. There will be six of us, me, wife, and four kids (ages 7, 4, 2, and 10 months). Two years ago we drove from NJ to FL, leaving early Fri evening and arriving in Orlando the next day around 1PM. The drive was not bad, although my wife and I did get tired between 3 - 6 AM, but overall the drive worked out well. For a change I am thinking about trying the Autotrain this time and wondered if anyone had any thoughts about that. We will be purchasing coach seats not a seperate bedroom. I know there are a number of threads already but I can't seem to find an answer to my biggest question which is: Since we will have a 10 month old with us we plan on having her sleep in her carseat during the trip. Is there room to place the carseat on the floor in between the seats? This is my only concern because I know the other three kids will sleep fine in the coach seats but don't want to have to hold the youngest for the majority of the night. Anyone who can offer a comment specific to my question or who has a general comment around taking the AutoTrain is appreciated.

Thanks

Though we've taken the Auto Train many years ago, we still use regular Amtrak to Florida. I believe the cars are the same. Seating is 2 by 2 with center aisle. No armrests between pairs and though leg room is huge don't know about a seat crib. We've been on many a train and have had extra seating all over, should be able to place carrier in a spare seat and have no problem. We've gone down and back regular reserved coach seats and we comfortable enough to get some rest, would hate to do it for 2 days but one night isn't bad. Like I said, there is alot of leg room in a pair of seat and the seats do recline. Hope this helps.

GMULL,
We'll be on the auto train later this month. I will check it out and be sure to reply to you when we return. Hopefully you will hear from some others that have previously traveled the auto train.

Thank you for the responses and lademps I look forward to hearing your comments.

Thanks again.

GMULL,

We leave on the AutoTrain for WDW TOMORROW!!!:cool1: I'll be glad to check it out for you - I'll try to get some pics if I can.

We are staying in a family bedroom, but I'll check out the coach car to see what I can see.

I'll post some time this week about the trip down.

Ted

You also might want to ask if you can bring it aboard and do that.. we took the autotrain 5 years ago but I dont remember if there was enough room..

You may also want to just buy you 10mo a seat.. it is not that $$.

This way also you will not have anyone next to that odd seat.. since 2 seats are together.

We are taking it both ways in August.. My kids will be 14,7.2 and 1. They are all getting their own seat.
