Autotrain-Bedrooms?

I've made two round trips on the auto-train in the bedrooms. We had a party of 5 and had adjoing rooms where the wall seperating the rooms was folded back to create a "suite". A word to the wise, on 3 out of 4 legs of the trips the odor from the bathroom was VERY strong. On the first round trip the return leg was worse and we were in differant train cars then going south. I did try it again a year later and had the same experiance but on the south bound trip.

My two auto train experiances cured my fear of flying, we just returned yesterday from a 2 day, 1 night trip to DIS where I flew Airtran for $59 (one-way).

Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

How are the roomettes? I am strongly thinking of the Autotrain for my trip in July 07. It will be DW, DS who will be 8mo and myself. I am thinking of either a roomette or the lower coach were there looks to be less traffic.
Thanks.

The roomette is pretty small. The baby would have to sleep in the lower bunk with one parent and that would be pretty tight. The bed is only like 2 1/2 feet wide. The upper is about 2 feet wide. The lower coach seats are usually reserved for handicapped and depending on what time of year you go they might not have any available. Snowbirds book their round trips usually Oct-Nov and Apr-May so July really depends on how late you book. Our experience in coach was with couples and older (15 or so and up) children and traffic really lets up by 11 or so. They put families with small children in the same cars, older/retirees in their own cars, and couples with or without older children in others. We've always gone in Nov and almost all those in the lower coach seats were non ambulatory (wheelchair). I know you can request lower level.

As for the bathroom odor, we have never experienced that on two round trips we took.
