Autotopia

They are extremely fun for kids! When my middle child was 3 1/2, we had to take him on them over and over and over, he just LOVED them. It's really one of the best "drive a car rides" out there - you actually control it to a degree, most other places you are being moved along a track. It's one of the rides at DLR that I know Walt would love and wouldn't remove, it fits his vision so well!

As for the gas/pollution issue, I totally agree. I don't know what they use for driving school at Legoland, but it is quiet and not smelly, seems like they could use the same technology for Autopia...

I mentioned another ride running with an electric rail and no accelerator/brake. I'm still not quite sure how it worked, but they were steered by the user. My kid of course simply went side to side and bumped against the rail (like Autopia). Here's a video of the ride I'm talking about that someone posted to YouTube.

My family loves Autopia.

As a prior poster said, if rides that some didn't like were scrapped, many would not be happy. If I had my way, IASW would be gone tomorrow.

There's not even a rail at legoland. It's a mini road with sidewalks, stop light, intersections, stop signs, etc. and kids can drive anywhere on it after doing a "drivers training" course (aka video on basic traffic rules). Gotta say it's really awesome! Most others, Autopia included, feel like a race track. I'm pretty sure the legoland cars are electric.
