I know summer is the wrong time for refurbs but when is the last time autotopia got a refurb.
I surprised at the state I found it in this past week. Disney prides themselves and keeping things looking nice.

The handrails, practically all the paint is wore off and the walls in the waiting columns need a bad paint job and have holes and chips in them. The ground is NASTY, gum, chips, everything. The cars need some work too. The steering wheels are sticky because the material is so worn and sundamaged on them. A lot of the cars need a new paint job and are dented.

Just seems like this ride needs a little love and I didn't know when the last time they did a refurb on autotopia was or if anyone knew when one was scheduled for it.

I agree it needs some love. This is a great standard- must have at DL. I know it's been refurbed before, but, your right , it's due again. We used fast pass in May, so I didn't see much of the line, but I wouldn't mind seeing some new and shiney bits.:)

Refurb' the lines, handrails, etc. Yes. But to redo the cars, I'm not sure about that.

They'll just get bumped over and over again, dents come back and paint gets scratched again, probably within' a whole week lol.

true but something needs to be done about the steering wheels, they are all sticky and nasty

The cars are still locked into the 50's when my sister and I first tried it out.
(Photo above - notice the orange groves on Harbor in the backbround). :woohoo:

The cars need a complete redesign. The steering and power are very old, and the huge bumpers that are used by Teenagers to smash into each other are very ugly. The cars were given new bodies a long time ago to match the Chevron Gasoline cars in the 90's.

The cars should be updated to have steering that works, the engines could be replaced with modern motors, and with modern electronics anti-collision systems can make them smaller and less necessary, eliminating crashing into each other. Speakers could add a lot of sounds and modernize the ride.

Today it is still the same 50's amusment ride it started at. The track layout is fine, just bring the cars and the loading que up to at least 2000 or better yet 2020.

I think the engines should become solar, electric, or something high tech...it's a Tomorrowland ride, after all!

I could not agree more with this statement, i have been saying that for years:confused3

Autopia is my kid's favorite ride.

Last time I was at Autopia, a little boy in line had to go to the bathroom so he did it right there! I guess he couldn't hold it any longer or he didn't want to lose his spot in line.

Really, it'd be great if they made the pedals easier to step on. I'm 21, and love to drive so Autopia is one of my inner-favorite rides.

But when a child is in front of me and is having a hard time getting at the pedal to get their car going, it kills the fun a little for me. Although I don't mind much 'cause the kid is probably having lotso fun, I think it'd be better overall if it was easier for them to get their car going as well haha.

I am not familiar with Autotopia ;) just playing. But Autopia is suppose to get new cars in the near future, and a fairly good sized refurb will likely take place at that time.

arent they waiting to get rid of Chevron?

Is this serious? Why would they not want a partner or Cheveron as a partner? I'm sure BP would pay more to take their spot.
