Automatic Tips Added to Bill at Check-out

I read this on the Disney site:

Gratuities are not included unless otherwise indicated. An automatic 18% gratuity charge will be added to your bill for parties of 6 or more. An automatic gratuity charge may also be added to your bill for items you order that are not included in the Disney Dining Plan (for example, alcoholic beverages).


Hmm, an auto tip "may" be added for items not covered by the plan.

So, Sweetie and I are on the standard DDP and will likely order appetizers (which I know aren't included) at our table service meals. Does the above mean we'll be charged an auto tip that'll be on our bill at checkout? If so, any idea what the % is?

Gotta plan this trip down to the dollar!

All tip questions have to be answered on the tip thread on the Restaurant Board.

Sounds like you are only a party of two which means the auto gratuities does not apply.

we ate at crsytal palace on ddp last night at it states optional 18% and 20% tip and you just add what you want. we paid cash for ours

No...they are just saying that the tip is also applicable to items that are not included on the DDP. This automatic gratuity is ONLY for parties of 6 or more.

tipping discussion is limited to the tipping thread on the main restaurant board.

I think you have your answer here, if you are a party of 6, you will be charged 18% gratuity, based on meal price
