Automatic or Manual Transmission in your Automobile?

It all depends on how you drive it.

True!

My Mazda is a manual. On the freeway I can get 32 mpg.
When I take it to the road track I get about 14mpg cause I am in third gear most of time getting all the horsepower I can :thumbsup2

Most sporty cars are all manual

I prefer a manual but drive an automatic. I hope to change that with my next car.

I drive an automatic but perfer a manual. Seems like manual is harder to find these days

I learned on an Automatic, In freshman year, I got my first manual and drove one until about 1990. Haven't driven one since. I found it to be almost second nature to drive, very little thought. Sound of the engine would tell you when to shift. I enjoyed the control, and found it much easier to drive in bad conditions. On a hill was easy, a little coordination goes a long way. Ease up on the clutch, move your foot from the brake and give it gas. No big whoop.

Have auto, prefer manual. Darn minivan!! :headache:

Automatic. Tried learning to drive a manuel but I always let the clutch out to fast and kill it.

For years, I drove a manual (stick shift). No problems at all. Then I bought an automatic because DW can't drive a stick shift. I would never go back to a manual. An automatic is especially good in traffic jams and for city driving.

I live in the UK and am used to shifting with my left hand. On one of my vacations to USA I was driving a shift and kept trying to change gears with the window winder!!!

Funny, I used to drive a British Motorcycle, a 1974 Norton 850 Commando. The Shift pedal and the Brake pedal were reversed from american bikes. When I tried to ride my friends KZ900, I almost killed myself trying to shift and hit the brake instead.

Manual driver here. I have a MINI and it's one of the few marques in the US where manuals far outsell automatics.

I have a Mountaineer that is auto, and a Mazda Miata I just got that can be driven manual or auto. I drive it auto, my DH likes to drive it manual.
