Need alittle info. I have friends going to the World the First of June. They have a 5year old daughter who is afraid of Automatic flushing toilets. I can't for the life of me remember what kind of toilets they have at the parks. Is their anybody out there who can help me with this topic? :cool1:

They do have them in the parks, Ir ead a tip here to take a post it note and put it over the sensor until the little ones are done so the noise doesn't scare them.

The dreaded auto flush toilet rears its ugly head. DS 9 is afraid of almost nothing, except for the Auto flush. He makes me go in with him to this day .
And I thought he was the only one. Maybe we can start a support group :cool1: :cool1: :rotfl: :goodvibes

my girls won't go on these either, unless...I stand behind them, and block the sensors. Interesting, eh? At least they'll go then. They always look first.

Correction :goodvibes Maybe a support group for the parents who have to stand over the toilet and block the sensor :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

The post-it notes work great! That is DH's all-time favorite DISBoard tip! :rotfl:

The tips on Post-it notes are good. Something else that works are those stickers that many CM's give out.

My daughter is afraid of them, too. If I don't have post-it notes with me (which I read about on this board), I just stand next to the toilet and hold a piece of toilet paper so that it hangs down in front of the sensor. If it is one that is not up against the wall, you can just drape the toilet paper over it so it is covered.

Do the handicapt stalls also have the auto-flush? That would be something to check for. At the amusement park I work for, and at many various places i've visited, they avoid putting autoflush in the handicapt stalls for some reason.

I know this doesn't do anybody visiting WDW any good but this DL Potties site makes me giggle. http://www.mouseplanet.com/potties/

There really should be one for WDW too!

Love the post it note idea!
Why didnt i think of that?
My dd is petrified of auto flushers.... she will have to go sooo bad she is actually holding herself, we get into the bathroom and if she sees an autoflusher, she says nope, i dont have to go!
I usually stand behind her with myhand over the sensor....
Will be sure to start carrying post it notes with me!
Thanks guys!

Support group... that's a GREAT idea! I thought I was the only one holding my hand in front of the sensors!!!! It's so good to know I'm not alone :earsgirl:

Oh, the "Magic Toilets"!!! My then 3 year old freaked completely when we used them at Boma, AKL a few years ago. She is now 5, and still hates them. We had a right performance at Christmas with me squeezing into the cubicle using my "magic powers" to stop the flush!

When DH offered to take her to the bathroom one time, he wasnt allowed, as he wasnt "magical enough" to stop the mysterious, all powerful flush!! :)

Scariest ride in the park for my 6.5YO daughter, who handles "thrill" rides like Tower of Terror with ease.

My 4 year old will hold it all day long... she hates those automatic flush toilets. If I have to make her go, I just hold my finger in front of the sensor... works just fine.

My 4 year-old daughter is terrified of the auto-flush toilet!!! Fortunately, I have some info that may help.

In MK the kids toilets at the baby centre are regular flushers. No matter where we are in the park, we will trek over there to avoid the hysterics.

In MGM I know the toilets by WWTBAM are regular flushers too. I think others there may be as well but that is where we have decided to always go.

AK has no regular flushers to my knowledge.

I believe Epcot has some but my memory fails me. Maybe they are all regular???

I have always used the seat covers to cover the sensor if necessary. I rip it at one edge so it hangs longer and then trap it in the "sanitary products" disposal bin so that it hangs down. My daughter still doesn't trust this but it does work (99% of the time!).

She really likes the idea of stick-ons, but they have to be pink!
Whoever came up with these auto-flushers should be auto-flushed!!!

I hate those things and I'm 34.
I was sick and throwing up one time at an OU football game and lost my glasses in the wretching process. Well, when I pulled my hands off of the stool to fish my glasses out.... swooooooosh. Away they went.

My 5 yo niece hates autoflushers too. She has gotten used to them as we are season ticketholders at our local hockey arena which has all autoflushers. It is funny to watch her, she covers her ears and hops off the toilet with her ears covered, then slowly lifts her hands off her ears to make sure it is done flushing then pulls her pants up.

The restrooms just outside of Epcot that are on your right as you come from the bus stops are regular ones.

The handicapped stalls have whatever the rest of the bathroom has. So, if the rest are autoflush, so are the handicapped ones.
The autoflush toilets are especially bad for some people with disabilities. My DD has great difficulty with staying totally still while sitting. Some of the flushers are so sensitive that a little lean away from the center position can make them flush. Pair that with the fact that herr muscles extend when she gets startled, adn we have some really interesting bathroom stops. Her personal record is 12 flushes in one bathrrom stop.

P.S. The Companion restrooms are more likely to have autoflush because in many cases, those restrooms were added later.
