Previously we were told that you could bring an item (birthday card, pillowcase, etc.) to Guest Services (in a ziploc with a permanent marker pen) and have the characters sign it. It would be returned to your stateroom later.

No longer done this way - back to standing in line for autographs! Or like Mom said, "Just look at the signature on his shirt/hat/etc and do it yourself!"

:( I was looking forward to having the t-shirts done for my nephews next time! :(

It seemed like a better and faster way to have the autographs done - but like all good things.......Mom's idea so far is the best because even though DS likes the characters, he hates waiting in line (like many of us!)

so the pillowcases are out huh? too bad I was looking forward to letting the kids get one done.

Rae,

Maybe we got in just under the deadline or maybe we just found someone in a good mood...... BUT........ we got two pillow cases and a princess poster signed while on the ship......... Dropped them off on wed. and picked up on fri.....

Is this something you were told on the ship or have you heard it since we got back??

WAY TOO BAD if it is no longer an option...... it was such a nice thing that took very little effort on their part....... I mean they do just get the 'REAL' characters to sign the things in their spare time right????:jester: :jester:

Based on what I read in another thread, I think that this is a case of the power of the internet being a bit too powerful. It seems like a fast and simple thing until you think about how many people read this message board...and how many people they talk to...and how many people they tell onboard the ship...and so on and so on, like that old shampoo commercial. It amazes me how many hundreds of people hit my website every day, and I suspect that's small potatoes compared to this site.
I don't blame Disney, as I suspect that they were swamped with requests. I have seen other perks be discontinued for the same reason. Sometimes it's better not to publicize certain things so widely.

For people who were wanting to do this for their kids or as a gift, couldn't you just sign it yourself and still surprise your kids. They would never know the difference and they would still love it just the same.

Will the characters still sign clothing? If so it is not all that bad. All you have to do is go to one or two character signings and you can get most of them. It was much nicer to do it at guest services. We surprised our dds on our second cruise with their remember the Magic shirts signed. They loved it and thought Mickey sent it to them since they delivered it.
Oh well I guess too many people found out. It was good while it lasted.

Hi! I was just on the Magic last week and I did get my pillowcases signed by all the characters. My kids were waiting in line to have the characters sign them...all the characters were at a long table in the lobby doing autographs only. The CM in charge of the event told me to give the pillowcases to "Scott" (the CM in charge of the characters) and he would bring it to guest services. I did, he asked me if I wanted the front or back signed and who I wanted autographs from...........it was done the next day! He did ask me if they were "Disney" pillowcases. The first guy was very impressed with them and said "Are they ever!" "Verandah Man" had e-mailed me a pic of the characters at Castaway Cay. I printed that onto iron-on paper and also printed "Magical" Dreams!(with the child's name after it). They were great! The friends I was with just dropped theirs off at Guest Services on Thursday and they were done on Friday. I would still give it a shot! It probably depends who you get! Good luck!.............also the characters didn't really like to sign "fabric" items. The CM's said it was hard to do nicely with the costumes on because the fabric shifted alot. Hope this helps! Kathy:)

Barb - I think you are soooo very right.
The good and the bad gets publicized. Just hope they "hear" us when we say third ship - cruise over Christmas/New Years 2004 and free soda!

Take care!

We sailed on the Wonder from May 11th-15th. I went to guest services and asked if the characters are still signing pillow cases and was told by a cast member that they never stopped on the Wonder. So...off I went back to my stateroom to get the Disney Pillow Case that I had purchased for my son prior to our trip. It was returned to my room the next day, and boy does it look great. My ds was so excited to read his name on it ( to our pal A______) from your buddies, Mickey Mouse, Pluto, ....... about 10-12 characters. What a great gift! To all of you, Thank you for this wonderful idea.
