I'm pretty sure I'm over thinking this, but we are buying white baseball caps for my boys' to get autographs on: Which fabric markers will be the easiest for the characters to use? I am looking at the Sharpie fabric markers, which don't need to be heat-set, but they have a "brush" tip. Will that be hard for characters to sign with? Any recommendations of fabric markers for autographing? TIA!

I moved this here from the Camping Board where I think it will be get more responses.

I don't know if you want colored markers or just black, but my when my son goes to sporting events we just bring a black sharpie and it works great. They have thicker ones for the gloved hands of the larger characters too.

Sharpie makes a Rub a Dub laundry marker in a black fine point . I'd use that.

Or, Sharpie fine or ultrafine paint markers. Michael's sells them in just about every color.

Years ago I stood in line at a baseball game for a player autograph during a pregame event. The player had a pile of black, fine point Sharpies. He was using them to sign everything, including posters, clothing, balls, and my cap (a wool serge 5950). It's pretty versatile. The only thing I'd say is that the tip should probably be worn a bit. A new tip is hard and might snag on the fabric. If it's a professional athlete, they're pretty good at adjusting to signing items of different shapes, sizes, and materials.

Laundry markers work just as well, but they're meant to stay set when washed. If it's just for display, a regular Sharpie should be fine.

This marker from US Art Supply is one of my favorite fabric markers. It's a large marker with two points. The tip on one side is a bullet point, while the tip on the other is a chisel tip. It's ideal for making all kinds of fabric art. The bullet tip is useful for writing and sketching, but it may also be used to fill in gaps. Shade and mix using the chisel tip.
Sorry but no autographs at Disney right now or for a while I imagine.
