OK, this started out as an easy idea  , I mean how hard can it be  , I will print Heather's cards, get them autographed and I will be able to put autographed cards in the photo album I am making for my Mom. You see, my Mom is 80 and she wanted to take "one more trip" down so she could see Disney through the eyes of her great grandchildren. I figure my nieces will probably not remember her, (they are 3) so I will make a photo memory book and in years to come they will look through it and see MeMom and remmber her fondly (as long as she doesn't yell at them, the older she gets, the more she yells, :confused3 ). SO I started saving Heather's designs. I then realized I didn't know where to find these stupid characters and being the OCD type I figured I would need to find a guide to take with me. Well, there is more than one guide on the internet and some are more up to date than others. So a week later, I had about 30 cards downloaded and a character listing that listed all the characters that sign (I didn't include ones that don't sign autographs like Nemo), where they can be found and how hard/easy they are to find. I shared it with people on these boards and they found some typos and missing characters, which I have now corrected.
Back to the autograph cards. Now Heather is a fine, fine autograph card maker, but she got sick before the holidays. The good news is she is fine now and has finished all of her cards (she does 4x6 and 6x6, with names and without). However, at the time I wasn't sure if she was going to finish them, so I started making them. 140 cards later I said enough is enough. I never finished (nor am I ever going to finish) the power rangers as my nieces don't really care about the power rangers and I can't tell them apart and there are very few Power Ranger gifs floating around. :rolleyes1 Plus Heather made them and they are better than what I would do.

Now I had to figure out how to take my 165 cards (2 of each one you know because I have to make two books cause my mom now wants one :scared1: ). So I put them in baggies, but that was cumbersome, then I tried envelopes, but that was a pain also. Then I came up with the idea of putting them in a photo book I got from AC Moore that cost $1. It holds 100 photos, so I needed two books. The cards are alphabetical (of course they are, I am neurotic, we already established that fact:snooty: ) so they will be easy to find. I take the appropriate character card out when we find the character. I put a spring clip on the outside of the book so I can clip the autograph card there, so it is easier to write on. I then put them away in the back of the book with empty pages.
So if you want the finalized character listing email me at
chaoscent@verizon.net.

It also includes who made the card. If I made the card, this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1640251 is where my cards can be found.
If Heather made the card, designated by an H, her cards can be found here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1608084
In many cases we both made them, so there's a P&H at the end so you can look at both and decide. I tried to include all the cards Heather made on this sheet, but I didn't include the 6x6 cards. If you want 6x6, go to Heather's thread as I only make 4x6.

Well that's my story and I am sticking to it. This small little project turned into a fun, :rolleyes1 frustrating, :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: activity, but I learned a whole lot about frames, and layers and text, so in the end I guess it was worth it. I will probably be lucky to actually get about 10 or 15 autographs. :woohoo: :thumbsup2 I am now working on my door signs. Then I print my tshirts and Maid tip envelopes and hopefully finish it all before 2/5, which is when we leave. Take care, Penny :hippie:

But only because I am completely there with you. (Except that we leave 1/20!)

I have printed out the Passport which was my neurotic obsession since you and Heather had the Autograph sheets covered!

I am finishing our Tees and gathering envelope designs and eventually we will be done! Or my husband will throw my computer out the window. I figure whichever comes first, I am still going to Disney!:cool1:

I hope that your trip goes very well. I think it is wonderful that you are taking your mom and grandkids. They will remember it and Disney World (and all that is amazing!) will cover any yelling.

My hubby isn't far behind yours. He has chalked it up to me being over the wall. LOL
Thanks & Have fun and enjoy your trip. Penny:hippie:

Penny, your designs turned out great! And it was a huge help to those of us who had already started printing out Heather's and realized, wait! We're missing some in the 4x6 size! I have one problem - your 4 x 6 is true to size but Heather's is smaller. Any idea why? Also, I think I messed up - give me your opinion please. How do you cut out the pages once they're printed??? The borders are beautiful and I wanted to showcase them, but I'm afraid of how to do it, know what I mean?

i don't cut out the pages, I print them on 4/6 cards and use them that way. What I realized is that setting the printer for 4x/5 didn't work. So If you are using Photo Impact use something bigger (letter size, A5) and leave the ruler on in print preview. Scale the card back to 1/8 or so of an inch from the 4" mark and the same for the 6" mark and that should do it? If you are using something else to print with play around with the print preview until you get what you want on the card. Hopefully that makes sense. Penny:hippie:

I finished the passports and it was grueling although hey I was determined not to let it beat me. My family thinks Im over the top with T shirts, passports , autograph books and itineraries

Here are some photos and my prized souniver from last trip

Your Passports look great. I am going to try and finish mine tonight. I am having the hardest time making them line up. :lmao:
Penny:hippie:

I right clicked on the pictures and chose print picture than turned the paper over and did the next one the first set I did did not work trying to do them from word

They pretty much lined up after I spent hours being OCD and getting them to line up, but now there is a little too much white sticking out when they are folded. So I am going to go through and snip away until they look close to perfect. Like a 4 year old would care. :lmao: Penny:hippie:

could use a paper cutter and some fancy type scissors but I had the same problem and figured oh well Ill use scissors and not spend anymore disney money. LOL

Penny,

I actually wound up resizing the passport pages in Photo impact..most of them were the correct size, but some just a bit off, which is why the white is showing. Now they line up perfect.

(I'm OCD and neurotic too...you should see my index cards I'm taking to the parks..planning/tips stuff...43 cards printed front and back, laminated, hole punched and held together by silver rings that includes resort information, park hours/ information, closures and rehabs, passporter maps shrunk down and cut in half (but printed so they line up perfectly when it's opened up), Monica's cards from Tourguide Mike, touring plans, important phone numbers, ADRs, show/character greeting times, expected dining budget for each day even tips for the correct settings for my camera!..Think of it as a Passporter/binder, but index card sized..Oh yeah, and they're color coded by day/park! And printed in the order we're touring (MGM first, DTD next..etc) My family thinks I have totally gone off the deep end!

I can send you the files (for the Passport..you'd probably be very scared of me if you saw my daily cards!!!) if you'd like..Just send me a PM (I'm not getting emails for my subbed threads since they switched servers)

OMG Heather, I'm cracking up right now! You sound just like me! My husband is threatening to NOT to to Disney if I don't STOP!!! :rotfl2: I'm waiting for the men in white coats to show up any day now!

One question, and I asked Penny this, too. Her 4 x 6 cards appear to be 4x6 inside the borders, while yours are closer to 4x6 outside the borders. What would you recommend to make these match up?

Thanx!

Planning the trip is half the fun! My oldest DD keeps trying to hide my cards! (I also have eguides to go on my ipod..:rotfl:)

You'd probably have to either shrink hers or make mine bigger. I set my starting page to 4x6. I haven't printed any of her pages yet so I don't know how much of a difference it is. (although I'm seriously considering making myself a 4x6 book. )

I have actually printed all Heathers 4 x 6 designs as 5 x 7 - that just seems easier to carry than the 6 x 6, but they have more room for the characters to write than the 4 x 6. Now if I could just get Penny's to save for me. I had this happen once before, when I save them to my pictures, they won't open, like I have a file I can't access. So I don't know if I'll be able to print hers as 5 x 7's or not.

I totally agree that planning is half the fun. Last time we went to WDW we made a spur of the moment decision and only had 3 weeks, so believe it or not that took some of the fun out of it! My only problem this time is that we're not going until May 4th and I've already got most everything done! What will I do with the next 3 months???:confused3

What will I do with the next 3 months???:confused3

I found some really neat CM appreciation cards an printed those out today...

Not that that will fill up much more of your 3 months, but another thing to add to the list  I could always show you my daily cards...that should keep you busy for awhile...(and guarantee dh sends you to the loony bin!) I'm sure I could cme up with lots more projects for you over the next couple of months! :rotfl2:

I'm printing out my autograph pages now and then need to do the tip envelopes. Didn't do shirts or door signs and if I decided to do those now I'd probably get killed.

Oh yeah, Journals too. Need to do those. And put together autograph books and passports.. Nothing like waiting until 10 days left to try to finish it all up.....

I should have tried to get all this finished months ago. At least I'm better than I was last June...I was still creating the autograph paes 2 days before the trip!!:scared1:

If you want I can upload the UFO files (if they will upload as UFO) and you can have your way with them? Let me know & I will try tonight. Penny
btw - i resized both mine & Heather's cards to fit on the 4x6 cards? again I started with A5 or A6 and made them all a little less than 4x6 before printing. that way nothing got chopped off?

Has anyone tried uploading the graphics to one of those picture sites like shutterfly, and having them printed out as mat photos? Sharpies should work fine on the photo paper for autographs and it would be a lot easier than trying to print them out at home...

I was wondering the same thing.
