Help!!! We leave in 2 weeks (yippee!!!) and I can't find autograph books! I've looked at Target, Wal Mart, Big Lots, and Hallmark. Anyone found them anywhere else?? I DO NOT want to pay the premium at Disney for autograph books. Any tips would be helpful for making my own or where to buy some. Thanks!!!!!!!

Last trip to WDW I went to our local discount card shop and got a plain autograph book. It was right after all the graduation stuff so I paid .50 for them. When I got home I took our Disney catalogs and cut pictures out of them and put them on the books. The kids loved them. They looked Disney and they were cheap. Make sure when you do go to take a chunky pen, one that is thicker than a normal pen. That makes it easier for them to hold.

I hope this helps. Have a great trip. We have to wait until Aug!!

Thanks bcinohio!! I will try that next. I think there is a factory card outlet nearby, or something. That's a great idea. I can let the kids decorate them before we go.

My boss actually came up with a good idea when she went. She had the character sign one side of the page, and then she put the picture taken with the character on the other side of the page. Looked cute too!

I bought mine on ebay at a really good price. It has the Disney characters on it. If you bid on an auction ending soon, you could probably get it before you go.

You could just get some plain white index cards and have those signed. You could put them in a photo album when you get back with a photo of your child with the character. Don't forget the fat pens. My kids prefer the kind that have 4 ink choices. The characters love to select which color that they want to sign with.

We did the index card thing on the last trip and found it to be a real aggravation. We had the cards on a clipboard (which broke of course) but the kids just couldn't handle switching cards (especially when there was more than one character in an area and they were going from one to another) without spilling them all and with three kids the cards were always getting mixed up and they fought over whose was whose.

Will definately go back to the books next time or try the t-shirt idea. We found cheap books at a dollar store and then covered the outside with Disney wrapping paper and then contact paper over that for durability.

If all else fails look in the craft dept at Wal-Mart or go to your local craft supply store (Hobby Lobby, Michaels even Jo Ann Fabrics.) In their scrapbooking stuff I have seen small photo album / scrapbooks with spiral binding that would work fine.

We made our own books with plain index cards. I have access to a machine at work that punches the square holes and then puts the spiral binding on it. Although I could have just done the 3 hole punch and used rings.

I researched and compiled a list of all characters and then printed the names at the bottom of each card and a large line in the middle of the card for the autograph. (I had 10 mos of planning :) ) The girls began decorating their cards, each character differently. We cut out small pictures and rubber cemented on the cards and stickers. We also went thru all our old photos and cut out those with the girls and the characters. I took these and glued to the backsides of the cards. So if you flip the book to Perla and then turn the page you see Peter Pan's autograph page and a picture of DD & Peter on the back of Perla's page. I hope this makes sense! The books have turned out beautifully and have made 3 trips. It is fun to see how many new autographs we can get each time and the girls can't wait to add their new photos to the book when we get home.

The girls and I had a great time on this project and it helped pass the time. DD 7 completely finished hers, but DD 12 still had a good number left to decorate. The Snow Queen scolded her for that and wanted to know why her page was not decorated! She praised DD7 who just ate that up and lorded it over her sister the rest of the day.

I always wait until I get there. On I-Drive (next to Don Pablo's) there is an Orlando/Kiss Welcome Center. Next door to them is a great Disney souvenir shop. They have different Disney character autograph books. Not the plain ones. Some with stickers and places to put certain pictures. Pens come with them. Most importantly much cheaper.

If memory serves me correctly I paid only $5 for a very cute pink Minnie mouse one for my daughter. They also have great Disney/US T-shirts, coffee mugs, etc. I almost always go there first to pick up coupons (at the Welcome Center) then go next door and buy whatever souvenirs for family/friends before I begin my selfish shopping. If I'm hungry I then go to Don Pablo’s (One of THE BEST Mexican food!!!!)

We purchased little fuzzy colored notebooks at Limited Too in the mall. The best thing is on the front it says "ORLANDO". My daughter knows this means Orlando Bloom to everyone else in the world, but not for us on this trip.

CHeck the dollar stores....You should be able to find little journals and etc maybe even with disney stuff on them...I actually got pretty lucky I was at Meijer the other day and found 3 little notebooks for ...50 cents each!! on clearance...ok they are not disney themed but they have little baby zoo animals which do tie in with AK so I grabbed them then found a 3 pack of thick permanent markers at the $ store..!! This is our 5 th trip (exactly one week from today!!) so we are less concerned about the books and characters this time around..but there are a few we haven't gotten yet !!

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I went to the Dollar Store yesterday and found autograph books and Mickey and Friends stickers. I let the kids decorate them and wrote their names and Disney World 2004 on them. The kids had a great time personalizing their own book and it only cost me 5$ for 3 books and stickers!!

i got the spiral bound index card notebooks (with neon colored pages) for boys 9 & 12 to use for autograph books. also bought them fat sharpie pens. plan is to have the characters sign the BACK (unlined) side of the card & then buy each boy a photo album at wdw. will tear cards out of books after trip and will put a picture of them with the character next to the autograph in the photo album.
