Autograph Books

Do you get a new book for every trip to DL? DD only filed up about 1/2 of her book from last summer. DH thinks we should just take the old one and fill it up. What do you folks do? About how many autographs do you average in 3-4 days? Thanks!

My DD had only filled up about half of her autograph book the first time she had one (we got it toward the end of the trip but had a few character meals before we left), so we brought it back with us the next time. (She said she didn't mind having duplicate autographs in the same book.) However, we were just as surprised as Jasmine and Aladdin (the first autographs we got) when they couldn't find a blank page because my DD had signed all the rest of the pages herself - with names like Flounder, Prince Eric (complete with Xs and Os), Queen Clarion, Zurg, Dash, etc. :rotfl2:

Anyway, I'd say leave it up to your DD. If she wants to keep going with the same one, bring it! If she runs out of room, buy #2 while you are there - they are so easy to find in DL.

My kids lost interest after awhile, so I don't think we'll do them again. But if you do buy a new one, get it at your hotel! They were 1/4 the cost than inside DL, and just as cute! They had pens, too!

I will be getting DD a new one for this trip. If I can get a new photo album just for pictures of my 2010 trip then why can't she get a new autograph book just for her 2010 trip? Certainly is cheaper for her autograph book than my photo album!!
Now if I was closer and going more often than once a year, then the answer would be to just keep using the old one until it is full. But seeing as we only go once a year, then she gets a new book and I get a new album!

We keep the same book until they are filled up :) No point in having multiple, partially used books around the house - not to mention the wasted paper!:wizard:

I'm getting a new one for the kids this trip. I may make it Halloween Themed as we will be there when it's Halloween Time.

I don't have any experience at DL, but we've been to WDW twice this year and our boys brought back their March autograph books for our July trip.

They started collecting autographs the first night, until Chip refused to sign because they already had a "Chip" signature in the book. They really tried to persuade him, but he wasn't going to sign. That kind of put an end to the autograph books for the trip, and maybe always because our two older boys are outgrowing the books anyway. I'm trying to pack lighter for the parks, so no books would help!

Really? Chip refused to sign? That sounds very un-Disney like. :(

The times my kids got repeat autographs, the characters have been super nice about it - saying something like, "that's right, I remember signing your book before!"

I know - I thought that was very un-Disney! They tried to explain to him that was from last trip, but he just kept pointing to it and closing the book! I'm guessing it was an isolated incident, but they were reluctant to keep trying (that's probably due less to Chip's reaction and more to their pre-teen ages!)
