I've been searching online for cute HOMEMADE autograph books, but can't find THE one. Does anyone have pics of their autograph books and/or suggestions on where to get one (Etsy? Check. Ebay? Check.)? Any tips about them? I heard we should bring a "fat" pen, how fat? Like...marker? TIA!

We bought the signature books from disneyland and they came with a ball point pen. The characters have to hold the books in akward positions to sign and the ball point pen wouldn't work half the time so this time I'm bringing two thin felt tip pens with us.

I don't have a pic though but in the books we bought they had a place to put a photo beside it, which I like.

Here is my DD's book:

we are going to attempt to do the pillowcase with autographs in lieu of a book. I have so many autograph books from over the years and now with 4 DD's we thought we would try something different. And my older girls have decided that if this works well they want to do Tshirts next time so they could really show off their autographs.

I am not sure if I am allowed to post my own shop but I have several fun Disney autograph book, scrapbooks and travel journals in my Etsy shop.

Gosh that's gorgeous. You're very talented.

That's a really creative and useful idea! Do you know how you will give the character a firm surface on which to write? Maybe a 12"X11" piece of pressboard?

We are using looms (like you would with cross stiching) and that will(should) keep the fabric pulled tight - we have never done this before so it will be a learning experience -- i am really hopeful especially since the girls are really excited about something different.

We are leaving for Dl in the morning so i will try to post how well it works in the next couple of days

We got a regular autograph book last year. This year I decided to buy a book and have the characters sign it. This is the one I bought:

That way my girls can really use the item after we return rather than it just sitting on a shelf.
We are probably going to use a sharpie -- they do need something fatter than a regular pen because many have large gloves.

You guys are too sweet. Thank you for the kind words. I am happy to help :goodvibes

Pitchmom, such great work!!

(I bought the Alice In Wonderland Altered Book Kit from ya', LOL!!)

Looks like you found what you want, but for anyone else, I've long admired relatively simple items from ebay seller nickaroo5055. I have yet to buy from her, but I just love the carry-bag.:goodvibes

But for us, we wouldn't use the autograph book, just the carrybag, because we like the books we've bought at disneyland just fine (and the price is fine, too, in our opinion).

I'll be honest, the autograph books are more for me, then for my kids. I mean, they don't care what it looks like, they're all too young! I want to make it really special for them to look back on because this could be our only DL trip as a family and it's their first. Unfortunately I have nary a creative bone in my body.

I've seen nickaroo's things and they're AWESOME! I mean (s)he can do just about any pattern and style, it looks like. Plus the carry bag is personalizable and way cute for kids to be able to carry their own books. :lovestruc

I have done this one 3 trips now and we love it. We are working on getting as many autographs as we can and no doubles.
I made my pillowcases and "Tink" gave them to the girls on morning when we first got there (about 3 trips back). Everyone loves them and they are easy to carry (I think). I get one gallon zipplock per pillowcase and use a thick cardboard square (the cardboard from freezers etc) you can go to any Home Depot or Lowes and ask for this thisck cardboard and they will give it to you if they have not put it throught the swisher. I used to work for Home Depot so I do know at least mine would do that.
You can by thick cardboard, but why when you just have to ask for it.
I then stick the cardboard inside the case and pick a spot, then scrunch the rest of the case as if you are holding flowers. It makes for a great platform to write on and the sharpies only get on the cardboard.
Then it's back into the ziplock and in the backpack or stroller. The ziplock keeps it dry as well.

I saw that Spookygirl. Thanks for the order. I hope you have fun with your kit. I love putting them together! :yay:

:) As far as pens, we brought retractable sharpies with us last time after reading about them on this board and we really liked them. They looked and wrote like regular shapies, but it was great to not to have to worry about losing the cap, or fussing with it and trying to get the cap off in time, or making a mess with the cap off while you're waiting in line. My DS just clicked it open as he was handing it to the character and it worked out great! We will be using them again on our next trip.
