Woohoo, my first post!
Anyway, I really want to make my own autograph books for the kids but I thought I'd better find out how much they are at the parks first so I don't spend more making one than just buying one.
Any recent returnees have a price for me? TIA!

Well, not very recent, but the last time we were there in November 2008 they were about $7.50. They might have gone up, but I don't know.

They have them at Disneystore.com for between 7-11 dollars. Keep trying the site -- I know I saw them on sale recently.

Make your own anyway. That way your kids will have something personalized and they'll have something special to talk to the characters about. You don't have to get too crazy with the patterns or anything. Buy a small spiral bound book and just decorate the cover.

I agree you should make your own. I just finished making my kids autograph books for our upcoming trip. They turned out super cute!

I did it! I made my own! They were not cheap, way too much cute stuff to make them with. But the boys got to add their own touches. My almost 5 year old picked The Little Mermaid theme because she is "beautiful," his words.
Thanks for the help!

Definitely make your own unless you really want to be buying more than one book. Last year my youngest filled one whole book and part of a second one. This year we have already made their autograph books for our trip in October. We made 6 books and the cost averaged out to $7 or $8. The difference is that 4 of the books had 75 pages in them and 2 books had 100 pages in them. The 4 books will be in Disney next week with my friend's kids and nieces.

That's funny because my 6 year old dd chose Chip and Dale for hers. Kids are so cute. WAY TO GO on making your own as well

I made a hybrid autograph book for our family trip in April. I purchased a 4x6 artist sketch book (apprx $5) and then I covered it with scrapbook paper and stickers. DS is so proud of his book. I really liked it as it had perforated pages for easy removal for our trip scrapbook. It wasn't a difficult project and DS had something to call his own. It was a great size too. We were able to tuck it into a quart sized ziploc bag and then throw it in our daypack. It held up perfect.

Just returned from WDW 3 days ago. We bought our books at the Disney store on-line. They were about $8.00 each. We looked at the price when we got to MK and they were the same price. One suggestion, is to take large zip lock storage bags to put them in case it rains.

Mind sharing how you made them? I'd love to know!! :cool1:

I have 5 kiddos, who will each want their own book. DH and I will be the ones lugging the backpack with all the junk. So I've been thinking about how we could get our autographs while still traveling light within the parks.

I saw on another thread of this topic that someone used her scrapping supplies to make tag punch outs. Then took the cardstock tags and had them autographed. I think maybe a mini clipboard, a ton of tags, maybe in different colors, or Disney themed patterns (light colors).

Then we can make each a scrapbook album with the corresponding photo and the autograph "tag" upon our return. We'll be there right before Christmas, so maybe the scrapbook and supplies will be part of their Christmas gifts and we can work on the books during the school break.

We would only start the day with blank tags, emptying our Ziploc bag each night.

OR- I'll just buy 5 books from Disney online so we have them ready to go before our trip.

Where did you find them? I am having a hard time finding them for under $9-10. :confused3 Were they spiral bound? If so, was the spiral on the long or short side?

Thanks!

We're in the process of making our own books. Ours are standard size sketch books, but could easily have been made in a smaller size, depending on which type of spiral bound book you purchased. My 13 year old son didn't want anything made, so he's getting a standard autograph album from Disney when we arrive. But my 8 year old daughter shares my scrapbooking bug, and I'll admit, we've had a blast making her autograph/scrapbook album together. On each page we feature a different character, complete with a decorated 3x5 blank index card for autographs. We left a space to glue in a photo of her with that character, too. We used stickers from the dollar store as well as character clipart found on the internet. It doesn't have to be anything too fancy, as long as she's happy it. We also made pages for each country in Epcot, with a place for her to journal what she enjoyed most about that country. We researched each country, found pictures of their flags and currency, as well as maps and other neat facts. We homeschool, and this project has been so much fun for both of us. We even talked her 13 year old brother into making his own Epcot pages. Don't know if those pages will make the trip, but he did have fun with the research. That being said, I can't imagine making one for every trip that we take. But at her age, I figure this might be the last time she's willing to take my advice on how to make her journal, so I wanted to make the most of it!! LOL!! I'll be glad to share pictures of what we've made so far if anyone would like to see it. Good luck! :)

I wanna see it! I wanna see it!!! PLEASE!

It sounds fantastic.

We usually only decorate the cover before leaving home. That way we aren't flipping through the book looking for a particular page if we happen upon a character. Its easier for me with multiple children getting autographs to just let the characters sign on whatever page comes next and then decorate accordingly when we get back home. It also helps the magic last a bit longer by decorating after we return.

Oh, I really like the idea of decorating when you return! I know we'll never get finished with this one before time to leave, so I'm planning to take a blank 3x5 spiral index with us to get those autographs we didn't have pages made for. I've been trying to categorize the characters by location, such as the character breakfasts, but I tend to get a little OCD about it all so I'm glad the pages can be torn out and arranged in page covers to put in a binder later. My husband just shakes his head and laughs at me!
