Autograph books-What is your pen choice?

My personal favourite is the "clickable" Sharpie. I never have to worry about removing or losing the cap.

My funny story about such a Sharpie was during a Mickey meet and greet at his house in Toontown. I had our autograph book and pen ready but forgot to "click" the pen out. The character handler started to give me a hard time - "you should have removed the cap!" when Mickey turned to her and held his hand up in a Stop gesture. Then he held up the pen in front of her and tapped the end to show how easy it was to use the pen even with big gloves on. :lmao:

Great story! Now I have to go find a clickable Sharpie. I've never seen them.

Any other answers to the original post?

Hi,

I am just bumping this thread to ask whether the Disney Autograph books are available in the Disney Store in Downtown Disney, we are arriving the day before we have 4 days in the park and I was wanting to have the books before we go in.

Thanks

Dean

They should. When we were there they sold the autograph books in quite a number of stores throughout the parks and I'm 99% sure they had them in The World of Disney in DTD. It's a large store so just ask a CM and they should be able to point you in the right direction :)

Wow, this is an old thread. :)

Dean, yes, you will find autograph books at WoD in DTD. You will also find a variety of pens. We prefer fine or ultra fine tip sharpies, we've never had anyone say anything about using them either. They don't smudge, they are easy to hold and write with and the varying tips can be fun, we also perfer to take in various colors and the kids like to pick one for the character we are meeting. We have basically stopped doing autographs (unless there is a new character that they really a signature from, like Rapunzel after Tangled came out) but that's what we did do in the past. :)

We also use the retractable sharpie markers. The pack came with different colours so we had the characters use blue, princesses pink, faries purple and Princess Tiana asked if she could use green :lmao:.

They are the click markers previously mentioned. In Canada we can get them at Staples, Office Depot or any type of business supply store.

Lots of autograph books available at Down Town Disney... no worries.

Have fun with the characters/princesses

:thumbsup2
Gosh, thanks for all the replies!!!
I think we will take a fine point sharpie (our house is known for sharpies :rotfl2:) and throw in a couple thin washable crayola markers as well in case the sharpie pens are frowned on.
You guys rock!
I made the girls books from some downloads on this board. I went to Vistaprint and made a photobook. I just got them in the mail. Thinking of posting pics on my trip report. They are really cute but was afraid of the right pen because the pages are "slicker" than the normal autograph paper. i don't want smudges...

I made a photobook autograph book (from Snapfish) that my daughter used for our November trip. We used a Sharpie and it didn't smudge. :thumbsup2

This is our favorite as well. :thumbsup2

I'm a scrapbooker, and when we first started doing autographs, I wanted to be able to put them in a book with a corresponding photo of character and child. So I brought a Sharpie, a small clipboard and a stack of 4x6 pieces of cardstock to the park. It worked out well.

I wanted a custom book for my girls, so I took a 2 5x7 pieces of thin cardboard and covered them with Disney scrapbook paper. I then cut cardstock to 5x7 and took it to a print shop (place that makes copies like Kinko's), and asked them to spiral bind it for me. I then put a couple of stickers and the girls names on the front. I now have a different book for each girl and they have lasted for three trips so far. I initially wanted character pages, but the blank pages worked best for us, because we never who we will see. I had thought I wanted different books for each trip (until I realized how many blank pages were left when we got home the first time) but it's fun to compare signatures from trip to trip...amazingly similar! I take a photograph of the girls and put it in the book opposite the signature of each character.

I think we can safely fit one more trip in the book... hopefully they won't grow too old for me to talk them into taking pics with the characters!

Oh, and we use a clickable thin sharpie... no one has ever said anything about it at the parks.
