Autograph books and Journals

I thought these would be great for my kids. However, I went to Staples yesterday and they only do 8.5 x 11 size bounding (is that a word?) So I was wondering, how the rest of you are doing the journals and autographs books. Are the autograph books sturdy enough for the characters to write on? How can I get them the same size as the ones they use in the parks and as sturdy? I'd like the journals to be smaller than reg. size paper. Would I cut the paper in half and use that? I need help and suggestions.

My Staples had no problem binding my 4x6 autograph books.

Did you first print everything out in the 4x6 size? Did you print out a cover and then the autograph pages of the different characters that some people made on this website? I think it was rumbly tumbly. Or did you just bind 4x 6 paper?

I used hddanis' autograph pages.

I also used someone's cover pages and just personalized them for my kids; then I put them into photobucket and shrank them from 8x8 or 6x6 to 4x6. I ended up with 96 autograph pages plus a front and a back cover.

I printed them out two to a sheet (I had two books to make) at the 4x6 size on 8 1/2 x 11 paper.

I took it all to Staples and my total cost was only $8.99.
They charged $2 to laminate (two sheets), $4 to cut it (two cuts she said), and then $2.49 to bind it. She used only one binding for the two 4x6 books so I saved a little money that way.

They look terrific!!

My journal printed out on 8 1/2 x 11 paper, but then was trimed down to about 7 x 10 and Staples bound them.

Here's what I did -

Pages: I used 6x6 cardstock from craft store - in various colors ($3.99 - per 100 pack) - I only used half the pack per book

Back: A semi hard cardboard back of the same size (like the cardboard that comes in the cardstock package) (free!)

Front:A piece of craft foam ($0.79) cut to 6x6

Took it to Office Max had it bound for $2.99

Cover - printed out a cover design a tad smaller that 6x6 (free - unless you count ink and paper) - covered the design with scrapbook laminate paper - ($6.99 a roll - which did 4 books with 3/4 of the roll leftover)

I use card stock for the front, back and the autograph pages, which are 4 x 6. Then I cut clear plastic-from report covers 1/4 larger. I used to take everything to either Office Depot or Office Max to have them bound but I finally bought a little manual binder- it cuts the holes. Then I bind them with spiral wires in pink for girls and blue for boys. I oredered all of this from the internet. It got so expensive to keep getting everything bound for not only my daughter but my nieces,nephews and friend's kids.
The binding also comes in handy for WDW journals.

I used cardstock cut to about 4x6 rectangles. I used a plastic case from a Sizzix die to hold the cards and also for them to have a hard surface to write on. It took a while because each time we needed 3 signatures.

This is a very cute idea and a great way to avoid the binding aggravation!

I took my books to staples and had them bound without any problems. I used the 6x6 cards.
