We are taking our first trip to WDW in spring of 2002. I would like to make an autograph book for my DS who will just be turning 4 during the trip. I would like to make something with pictures so he can associate the signature with the picture. Any suggestions would be appreciated. And one last question, whose autograph is the hardest to find? My DD would like to know. Thanks in advance.

They sell autograph books everywhere in the park and hotels. I don't recall how much they are but they are blue with a disney logo on them, and inside are blank pages. When you guys get home you could put stickers of the disney characters next to there signitures. Everyone runs around with these books. You have to check out buzz lightyear and woody at Al's toy barn in MGM studios. It is behind the Muppets show. They are so cute, and the lines are usually long. The character breakfasts are the best places to meet and get the characters to sign your book. Have fun!!

I made 4 books for my nieces and nephews. Bought Disney photo albums at walmart for $ 4 each, they are loose leaf and removed the pages. I downloaded disneyclipart.com pictures of the characters, saved them and then imported them into print shop, made 4 "postcards" per page, cut the pages, punched holes, and TaDa....their own autograph books. Everyone says they will have more than enough time to find the character's page because of the lines around the characters. We shall see. Hope this helps! MaryAunt

They sell the books for $6 at virtually every merchandise location on Disney property. As for the hardest autograph to get.. I'll go with an attainable one: Bert from Mary Poppins. If you do want a chance to see him check at MGM between 2 and 5 in the Great movie Ride Courtyard (the area in front of it and the construction).

the best advice I can give you as far as getting autographs are concerned: check at the Town Hall Exposition Center. Inside in the back they have various characters sitting there with sometimes very short lines. We saw Snow White, Dopey, and Donald Duck with no wait. Also saw characters I never expected to see, such as Launchpad, Friar Tuck, and the Sheriff of Nottingham :) . Also, we saw just about every animal character outside of Animal Kingdom around lunchtime.

I had someone who was going to the parks before my trip pick up an autograph book for me so that I'd have it ready to go at the beginning of the trip, but this really isn't neccessary. They really are EVERYWHERE and you can get one right in your hotel. I'm adding photographs to my book as I get pictures developed. Have each character sign on a new page so that you can cut and paste the photo of your kids next to it :)
If you're looking for something to do ahead of time, I'd say look for stickers, cut out pictures from magazines and Disney World brochures, and clip art off the computer as someone suggested previously.
Have fun!

I got what seems like a really great tip for an autograph book the last time I called CRO. She told me that I should get Birnbaum's book for the year of the trip and have the characters sign next to their pictures. I bought post-it flags and marked all the characters pictures my DD really wants and I figure we can find the others while we wait in line giving her something to do. Worst case scenario, if the character we're meeting doesn't have their picture in the book they can sign the inside covers. What a great (and cheep) autograph book!

I thought about buying an izone camera and using the sticker photo of the character next to the autograph. I read a post where someone scrapbooked and cut out the autograph for next to the photo, I thought that might be cute as well.

I made my 5 year old sister an autograph book last year using pictures cut from the daily calendar. The Disney Store, and others I am sure, sell those calendars you tear off a page each day. I found nearly every character to be covered in these pictures. I pasted the pictures into the princess notebook the Disney Store sold last year. This year I have a Pooh notebook I got at CVS. The pages are green with light colored pictures of Pooh on them. This worked great and the characters LOVED it. My sister got a kick out of the characters pointing at their pictures (and the villians making angry motions at the heros of their movie). There were plenty of pages in the back for those we didn't have pictured for.

Like some others, I made my own for my grandson. I bought a looseleaf photo album book with Tigger's picture on front. Mineme from Hallmark, but there are less expensive ones at Wal-Mart, etc. This one also had plastic sleeves so once the page is signed, I can put it back in plastic sleeve for better safe keeping.

My grandson, 2 1/2, likes to "read" it now to see what characters I have added. I started a year ago and it's finally finished - we leave in 6 weeks.

I also downloaded clipart for each page and printed on color printer. Best clipart sites I have found are www.disneyclipart.com and Cruella's clipart (members.aol.com/cruella275.clipart.html).

It makes it personalized - I also put a label on the inside with grandson's name and name of our resort.

Good luck - I've had a lot of fun doing this one.

Thanks to everyone for their advice. I cant wait to start my project. Thanks again.

These sound great. Guess I know what I'll be doing the next week and a half. We leave Oct 13. YEAH!!!!

One last tip for great autographing.....

Get a really, really fat pen. The characters have a hard time using the skinny ones! (And the fat one is harder to lose).

We found a really fat pen at WalMart that had a clip-ring on the end, and tied a piece of ribbon to it and the book. PERFECT.

Would it be "unusuall" for a 21 year old and 18 year old to have autograph books?

Arghavan -

My sister (21), my husband (27), and me (29) usually travel to WDW together quite often and we ALWAYS take our autograph books. We always get great attention from the characters and wonderful photos - even though we don't have kids with us. It's lots of fun!

I just asked this question on another post but really want an answer...so....do your kids get a new book/new autographs every trip? We're planning on visiting every two years or so and went last year and got all autos....do we get a new book for this trip and do it again, or just go with new photos? What do you do?

We have taken our third trip in four years and the kids used the same book for all three trips. I just mark the year on the page and the characters continue to sign. Several reasons for continuing in the same book. I'm cheap! I don't want three books to save or worry about losing. The kids like to look back down memory lane at which characters they saw on each trip. My oldest son will only get autographs at meals, so he only gets 5 or 6 sigs per trip. The other two go all out collecting them. After three years we still have room for probably one more year. Do NOT forget to mark with your name and address. We lost ours the first year and Disney mailed them back about one month after we got home.

I have so many of these books laying around the house it is unbelievable. We get a new book each trip and have even bought two for my DD on one trip to DL because she loves Pooh, we hadn't seen him yet, and when we wen't to get in line for his autograph we realized we had forgot her book. Off to buy another book we went. Oh well.

We took our DS to WDW for the third time in August of this year. He was almost 4 years old. I too made my own scrapbook. I went to Walmart and bought a 4 x 6 photo album with removable pages. Unfortunately, I could not find a disney photo album, so I recoverd mine in Disney Clipart. I removed all the photo pages. I went online and downloaded tons of character clipart. I used 4 x 6 unlined index cards and put clipart of the character on them in addition to the WDW logo and the All Stars Sports Logo. I printed out about 50 cards of characters that I knew we had a chance to meet. In addition I printed out blank cards with just the WDW logo and ASSp logo in case we met characters whose pictures I didn't have. (These came in handy because we met characters such as Mushu, Suzy, Perla, Princess Kida, etc. whose clipart I didn't have. When I got home I merely printed their clipart on the blank card next to the autograph.) I then put the cards in alphabetical order - easier to find in a hurry. I also inserted and later removed blank index cards with tabs such as ABC, DEF, etc. for quick reference at the parks. I hole punched all the cards and away we went.
We met 37 different characters on our trip - a record for us!! The characters were great about the book. Most of them would point to the picture of themself in the book and then point to themself as if to say "It's me!!". Balou took our book and started jumping up and down and showing it to the crowd. It made my son feel very special.
When we came home, I had a second set of pictures made of my son with the characters and put each picture next to the autograph. He loves his book and wants to show everyone. I scanned an example of an autograph next to the photo as well as the outside of our book. Although it doesn't appear that I can attach the files to this thread. If anyone wants to see it e-mail me and I'll send it to you.

Hi Becky, I would love to see your book. If you could email me a sample I would appreciate it. Here is my email lrbms@aol.com.

Thanks,
