Autograph Book Question

I have been lurking for months as I plan for our families trip to Disney next month. I love the idea of making my own character autograph book prior to visiting but have a few questions or maybe need some suggestions.

1. What did you do if you had a premade book and didn't obtain an autograph on a particular page?
2. Has anyone done both - a premade autograph book and white cardstock pages that you formulated into a scrapbook later - what did you find was easier or that you liked better?

I have 3 boys and when we took our oldest son a few years ago, he got one autograph and had no other interest in getting other autographs. That time I had plain cardstock that I had planned on making into a scrapbook after we got home - not much of a scrapbook with 1 autograph.:( I have a feeling my middle guy will want to meet the characters and get autographs with me :).

TIA

I am not sure if this will help, but I made our autograph books. Each page had the character on it. I didn't convert ours to a scrapbook for me. I made them into photo albums for the kids, so they can flip through them and re-live their trip to Disney. If they get ruined, oh well, the albums are for them.
If we didn't get the autograph, I carefully ripped it out. I glued a picture of my child(ren) with the character on the back of the page in front of the one with the autograph. So, you see the picture and autograph at the same time. My kids love them and still flip them!
