I am making my sons autograph book and am wondering what kind of pens to get for the characters to use. I heard they are not fond of the sharpie pens because they stain the costumes.

I am using different colored cardstock and a sharpie pen would work the best, does anyone know if they refuse to use the sharpies?

What kind of pens do you guys use? Do you know of any thick "marker" that would be better than a sharpie?

I need opinions

They do sell character pens and autograph books at the WDW but if looking for a pen at home you must get a thick pen so they can grip the pen and other than that I would belive just a thick ink pen so the autograph will show up.

if youre going to use a sharpie, use the click ones. youll just get aggrevated with the ones you ahve to remove the top. and the characters can not remove the tops.

when we used to do autograph books(ive since decided i hate this trend) we always used the ones you buy there. i just figured they were made to fit their hands nad they were the ones the characters would be most comfortable with.

I was always a face, so I didn't have annoying hands to deal with, but I always liked sharpies, they are easy to use. The click ones would be smart.

Thanks guys...i might just bring a sharpie and a fat pen and maybe ask the CM with the character which one would be ok.
lol were leaving in a week and a half and for some reason this is the issue that has me all bothered and losing sleep over. :confused3

We used Click Sharpies in 3 different colors last week and
no one said anything about them. Hook tried to steal one
from my DS--he's a hoot.

I have a HUGE collection of colored Sharpies from my previous job (color coding upon color coding upon colored fle folders!), so I just stuck them all in a baggie and will be bringing that in addition to my autograph file...

Last year I bought a large princess pen for my dd to get autographs from our local dollar store, and it worked great (they had all different kinds). I agree though that a Click Sharpie would be best for your type of autograph book.

I agree...the click Sharpies are the way to go!! We've even had CMs thank us as they're easy to push out and put right back in! This way they don't get all over the characters and the kids!!! Besides, you don't have to worry about losing a lid.

Have a wonderful trip!!!

And don't forget to write your name and address in the front of the book! Disney will mail it to you if it's turned in!!!

I put velcro on our sharpies and the book so that I can keep track of the pen more easily -- put the loop side on the pen so it doesn't stick to the character!

WE used the flip top washable markers. The characters loved them. The wouldlook at it and point to it and give the marker a thumbs up. That happend with quite a few of the characters.
