For anyone taking or considering Auto-Train to Walt Disney World, schedules will be changed effective with the April 2 departure, lengthening the trip by one hour. Trains will still depart at 4 p.m., but the new scheduled arrival will be 9:30 a.m.

Of course, CSX - which owns, dispatches, and occasionally maintains the tracks - often already takes that extra hour anyway...

Still, this change should result in more on-time arrivals, at least for a while.

Thanks for that!

Can you tell me how long it takes to get from Sanford to WDW after everyone gets unloaded? I'm assuming it can take an hour or longer to get unloaded, right?

Thank You!

Now if they would only come out with summer discounts :goodvibes

Has anyone taking the Autotrain with children and sat in coach? If so, I'd be interested in hearing how it went. We are scheduled to take the Autotrain in November with our four kids, ages 7 and under. I'm wondering how this is going to workout.

Thanks

Yes - just kinda depends on where your car ends up.....you could be the first off...you could be the last. When you arrive plays no part .... they decide where you go on the train. My car was the absolute last car loaded .... altho I arrived pretty early I've apicture of it all alone in the parking lot. But came off way towards the front...I was on my way about an hour after arrival.....

Here's more info than you probably want, but when the train arrives:

- the car carriers are sep'rated from the pass' cars and the pass cars get spotted to the terminal. You can get off now but still happening is:
- carriers get moved and broken into smaller sections that then get spotted to the loading/unloading ramps, I think there were 4 sidings, and 2 or three carrier cars end up at each ramp
- once they are all in place the car unloading begins. The carriers are two levels - they can do only 1 level at a time. Unload all the top, then unload the bottom of each string.
- they bring each car to a loading area, where you hop in and off u go.

then it is 50 miles in round numbers from Sanford to WDW

Yes,

Our last time on the train my kids were 9 and 3.

This time I will have a 14yo, 8yo, 3yo and 2yo in coach.

everything went good the first time.. but than again it was only 2 kids lol

Mushy,

When I booked the other day they told me I could not apply both AAA and the Magicard. Are you sure you were able to apply both??

There is a discount for the whole year, I believe. 20% if you use the Magicard discount: http://www.orlandoinfo.com/magicard/index.cfm?act=offersinCategory&cid=12 and then you can take 10% on top of that with a AAA membership.

We ended up with a pretty good price, plus the sales rep talked me into taking a car instead of my SUV, which brought the price down by almost $300!

Is the magic card code working? I know when i tried it a month ago it wasnt. Last year they had the kids ride free promo which is what I am hoping for again.

I wish I could take a car.. with 6 of us we dont fit.. so its the mini van and higher prices..

right now its coming out to 1125 with our dates and no discounts.

Did you talk to them on the phone? The rep I spoke with first did the AAA rate, and then applied the code after that. I don't have my receipt handy, but I'll look at it later and see if they're written on there. According to the rep I spoke with, though, she applied both of them.

Is that a coach price?

I wasn't able to use the magicard online, so I called them. I was on the phone quite a while with the rep and she really worked to get me the lowest price possible!

yes that is coach for 2 adults and 4 kids..

Did they ask for your AAA when you booked on the phone?

If they dont do any other promo I may join AAA and do what you did and try both over the phone.

They take it only off the ticket portion right? and not the car portion.

Right, everything came off the ticket portion. She needed my AAA membership number, and then I gave her the code for Magicard, which she had to look up for the rules and regulations.

Mushy,

I did speak with them on the phone. The rep priced me for both AAA and the magicard but told me I could not combine both. I ended up using the magicard because it came out better. The magicard is available to be used but there are blackout dates to answer another posted question. If you can see if you were able to use both I'd appreciate it. I'm going to call back and see what they say in the meantime.

Thanks

I forgot to check back with you. I looked at my receipt and it doesn't have the discount broken down, but it has the Magicard code, as well as the AAA discount written in.

So maybe you could try talking to a different agent!

I'm going to have to call in the morning and see if I can get the Magicard discount applied. Thanks for this info!:yay:
