I've taken Auto Train to Florida several times. Up until the last time we had always used a car that we have since sold. This past January, we drove down to Florida, then booked the Auto Train for our return with our 2002 Ford Windstar minivan. When we arrived in Lorton, we drove away and had a loud sound coming from the front of the van. We drove home to NJ with this sound, then bought it in to the dealership to be looked at the next day. THe front drive bearings were shot and had to be replaced. This must have been caused by the impact from the bumpiness of the train ride as we didn't have this problem before. It was covered under our warranty, so we weren't too upset, but we did let Amtrak know of this problem. Has anyone else had any problems? We never had any problems with the car that we took on their previously. I love the auto train. It's been my favorite way to travel to Florida, but now I'm nervous about bringing our van onboard again thinking the same thing will only happen again.
