I just wanted to pass along my opinion on having a GPS unit in your car. Simply put--I LOVE IT!

We just got a new Honda van and it is so cool. We really didn't want the GPS, but that was the only one available in the color we wanted.

It took some OJT, but once we were up and running it worked great. We just completed a 5000 mile road trip and it didn't lead us wrong once. It doesn't always give the quickest route, but it gets you there. I have absolutely no sense of direction and I'm becoming very dependent on this neat little gadget.

Just my two cents.

Steph,

They really are pretty neat. I work for a retailer that has been selling auto GPS/Navigation systems almost since their inception. I remember a friend of mine, and a mfg rep had a sample system, and we were testing it, on our way out to get dessert for a dinner party. Well, we were so intent on paying attention to the GPS, about halfway to the market we were heading to, we just totally spaced on where we were going, and why we were going there. It was pretty funny.

They are pretty cool, enjoy the new gadget!

Debbie,

Your story reminds me of the first time I used it. We were going out to dinner with friends, and my DH and friend's DH are both pilots in the AF. They are both used to using GPS in their planes. Anway, I'm driving along and it shows me going off the road (I wasn't), but it hadn't updated our position yet. Mind you, it was late at night, and I hadn't yet figured out how to dim the GPS. So here I am trying to drive on a curvy highway in the middle of West Texas and I have two goofballs screaming "crosscheck" and "warning, warning" in that mechanical voice.

I posted this because I am truly surprised at how much I like the GPS. As I stated previously, we really didn't want it, but now I can't live without it.

It was really fun to use it at WDW as it seemed to have some of those "unmarked" roads in it.
