Autism question

Hi all! My to be 11 year old son has autism. He has severe sensory issues but is verbal and quite smart . Wed like to get him a das. However I'm a little hesitant to list all the potential things that could go wrong in front of him. First, it could become a self fulfilling prophecy with him, and two he becomes very upset and embarrassed when we talk about his issues. As parents we try to couch his autism in positive terms to him and I would hate for him to hear me speak about him negatively. Anyone have any work arounds we could try?

Some people have had success with writing down their needs and providing that to the CM.

written form is a great idea.

if there is a second adult/parent to be with him just have him stand off where the CM can see him but out of earshot.

At his age it is important the he begin to understand his genetics and the amazing gifts and challenges that come along with it and to begin to embrace it.

I have an app on my phone where I wrote out the issues. When I got to the castmember I simply showed him the note card in the app and he gave me the DAS card. That way I did not have to reveal my problems to everyone around me, I did not have to worry about becoming flustered and I did not need to worry about the volume of my voice which I can't completely hear.
