I just wanted to share a great experience I had. I purchased some custom dog tags off ebay. They offer several kinds. I ordered the autism puzzle piece ones. On the front I put my sons name and on the back I was able to put that he did not speak well and had seizures as well as our cell phone numbers. I got to pick the colors too. They had them made and shipped the next morning and my son loves them. He won't take them off. Which I was hoping for!!! He knows that if he is ever lost that he has to show his really cool necklace to someone. I would highly recommend them. It has worked great for me!

That is great! I have always meant to get them. Can you PM me the seller? My son talks a lot (now), but he doesn't always make sense, especially when he is upset.

thank you so much for this tip. I thought about how I was going to "mark" my DD who is 8 years old, verbal, but moderately autistic. If she were to get lost in the park she would not be able to say her name clearly or mine for that matter. THat is my biggest fear is that I will lose her in a crowd.

Awesome thanks for the info! My son will not wear a medic alert bracelet but this is something we could attach to his shoe or belt loop. Could you also PM me the sellers name? I tired to look it up but I could not find any that were custom. Thanks!

Thanks Harvey's Girl. I just ordered 2 of them. What a terrific resource!!

we did something similar on our last WDW trip. we used the machines that are in the theme parks and had a disney themed one. we had 2 made. on the back of one it says I AM AUTISTIC, I HAVE ALLERGIES, PLEASE DO NOT FEED ME. on the other we've got our mobile phone numbers.

Joe loved them as they were disney themed and he calledthem his jewellry!!!

When DS was little and I was afraid he would run away, I pinned (with a safety diaper pin) a note on his back where he couldn't reach it. It has his name, our names, where we were staying and cell phone number on it.

lots of good ideas on thus thread.

They also have those machines in Downtown Disney. They were by the sports themed shop where they make custom tee shirts. Sorry I can't be of more help, but I am writing on my iPod and don't have a lot of reference stuff with me.

I received them--this guy shipped them really fast!! They're perfect!! I like that you can choose from about 10 different colors. So many resources for autism, whether they be books, vitamins, videos, special toys, etc are expensive. This was just the opposite. I can't remember the last time I spend $5.98 and had total peace of mind. Thanks again, OP!!

Several years ago, I purchased a box (1000) hospital wrist bands, and I use these for my daughter (autism) when we go to disney world. I put her name & autism on each one along with our cell phone #'s - just in case. I decorate each one before we go - and make them so she will like them & wear them - they snap on - stay on - and are water proof. She gets to pick a new one every morning - so it keeps it fun for her.
