You and i are in the same boat on this one
Making significant additions to Hollywood and Animal Kingdom is the only reasonable expansion plan at this point.
to be honest...they should have delayed AK until the Studios were expanded in my opinion. But Eisner thought there was this "lion king buzz" that had to be seized...you know - by opening a park 5 years later
but here's the thing that is really disconcerting:
Disney's theme parks are becoming a little stale - something that would have been unthinkable before Mad Mikey steered the ship into a sandbar
rehashed, copied rides and a list of 5 underachieving new parks in a row - sans the aforementioned disneysea where they got a blank check (their last complete park was Eurodisney...no question)
This is no more evident than the lack of changes to the two WDW entries into this ugly contest.
And to be honest...there hasn't been enough backlash (which has to be huge because it calls for reinvestment instead of dividend payments) on how badly the last 10 years has been run at the parks...and i'm just as guilty.
I keep going...keep buying the annual...keep trying.
But that is the food that feeds the dragon. And i look at boards like this where hundreds of thousands of people waste their day asking deep questions like "Tell me what's magical about Port?"
Seriously? People need to pay attention to the decline in quality instead of worrying soo much about getting a CRT reservation.
cause that's gone way downhill TOO!!!
You are getting less and less for your dollars...and that is not a small thing based on the world economy and our own funny money bubble bursting in embarassing fashion.
I am waiting for the day when people will wise up and a significant decline in attendance at AK and DHS will occur.
But let's face it...it's not gonna happen. Cause they have this free pass with the general public that will expire long after they have lost their unique place in this market.
discovery cove is better and more immersive than anything disney has done. as much as i think harry potter will fade (cause it will)...universal did provide a significant example of what can still be done with a good plan in themepark design with their harry potter land...and busch gardens in tampa continues to do the animal thing better than disney...especially in hybrid ride/ habitat environments.
well...there it is again.
