Austraila at AK?

Don't know how many of you have been to the Paris park but the Crush Coaster there is phenomenal. A DAK Australian theme would be perfect if they were interested in bringing that ride over.

Obviously some of the draw of visiting the different parks is having at least a couple unique attractions so I could understand it either way.

The Space Mountain 2nd Mission in Paris is awesome as well but that's neither here nor there.

I would vote to build Disneyland's Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage as one of the main attractions for the rumored Australia area. Since there's already a Finding Nemo show at the same park, they could always move it to another one such as Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Yuck no more nemo he already ruined The Living Seas. Bring 20K under the sea from TDS if you want a submarine ride again.

Meh I'd rather have BK or MI or a combo if both!

I would love to see these too and I still think someday we will see it.

This Aussie rumor makes no sense and I don’t know why the major media outlets in Orlando published this nonsense. A killer whale/Dolphin show is what made me think BS., with SeaWorld branded for this, plus you have the Living with the Seas in Epcot.

This rumor died just a few days after it was published vs. FL-E that rumor continued to stay hot.

I think once FL-E phase one is done, DCA is close to being done we will see some exciting things at DAK and DHS

I like that part of it too, but not enough to draw me there every trip.

I think this is the prevailing sentiment that they've found...and their rejection of "Traditional zoo" and "traditional themepark" are the co-causes to blame.

they have spent the last ten years trying to convince people to go and look at fauna...it ain't working.

people love the non-attraction ambience of mainstreet usa at both disneyland and the magic kingdoms...

...on their way to the attractions

you have to have both the "disney traditional stuff" and the stuff that packs the punch.

Animal Kingdom still needs alot of investment to get there...alot

but i don't think that is the goal there and don't think we'll see it in the next 25 years...but i've made that theory a million time here and won't repeat it again...for the sake of brevity

nothing in the history of those parks (going on 35 years combined) has indicated this will be the case.

one "ride" every 5 years or so...
both those parks need significant footprint expansion and a full slate of menu items to go in those expansions: frontline attractions, family friendly shows and lesser attractions, food offerings, and NEW retail offerings.

what they had to do at california adventure due to embarrassment.

nothing makes me think we'll see it. because morons (like me) keep going back to acceptable...if inferior...levels.

I with you The happiest celebration on earth additions "LMT, Soarin', EE then TSM shortly after" is what got me in thinking they will continue adding attractions.

I don’t know If you ever watched the Modern Marvel show on Disney. There they talked about the 4 parks. MK and Epcot construction projects where huge, biggest private construction projects at the time. Big difference IMHO with MK and Epcot you had Walt and Roys touch on those parks as too DHS and DAK did not.

Most fans want a 5 gate I however think It would be a much better move expanding AK and DHS.

It all comes down to $$$$. Reason why Disney Sea is such a master piece they "Disney" did not have pay for it.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

You and i are in the same boat on this one:boat:

Making significant additions to Hollywood and Animal Kingdom is the only reasonable expansion plan at this point.

to be honest...they should have delayed AK until the Studios were expanded in my opinion. But Eisner thought there was this "lion king buzz" that had to be seized...you know - by opening a park 5 years later:woohoo:

but here's the thing that is really disconcerting:
Disney's theme parks are becoming a little stale - something that would have been unthinkable before Mad Mikey steered the ship into a sandbar

rehashed, copied rides and a list of 5 underachieving new parks in a row - sans the aforementioned disneysea where they got a blank check (their last complete park was Eurodisney...no question)

This is no more evident than the lack of changes to the two WDW entries into this ugly contest.

And to be honest...there hasn't been enough backlash (which has to be huge because it calls for reinvestment instead of dividend payments) on how badly the last 10 years has been run at the parks...and i'm just as guilty.

I keep going...keep buying the annual...keep trying.

But that is the food that feeds the dragon. And i look at boards like this where hundreds of thousands of people waste their day asking deep questions like "Tell me what's magical about Port?"

Seriously? People need to pay attention to the decline in quality instead of worrying soo much about getting a CRT reservation.

cause that's gone way downhill TOO!!!

You are getting less and less for your dollars...and that is not a small thing based on the world economy and our own funny money bubble bursting in embarassing fashion.

I am waiting for the day when people will wise up and a significant decline in attendance at AK and DHS will occur.

But let's face it...it's not gonna happen. Cause they have this free pass with the general public that will expire long after they have lost their unique place in this market.

discovery cove is better and more immersive than anything disney has done. as much as i think harry potter will fade (cause it will)...universal did provide a significant example of what can still be done with a good plan in themepark design with their harry potter land...and busch gardens in tampa continues to do the animal thing better than disney...especially in hybrid ride/ habitat environments.

well...there it is again.

I remember in my teens going to MK and Epcot with my parents it was wow, wow, wow. We went to Epcot the year it opened it was and It blew us away. Then when MGM opened we made a special trip to check it out what a disappointment and I remember we where in good company with many other families disappointed. When we where down there 2 years ago with my parents they had no interest in going to DHS! due to the disappointment when it opened. Well they went and had a ok time still thought MK and Epcot where much better.

I dream what DHS and DAK would be with Walt and Roy running the show vs Eisner. I know I run into the argument consistently if those parks where more grander prices would be sky high. MK and Epcot where built on a grand scale and did just fine, plus they would kept people in the parks, spend more $$$ on merch, food ect.

I know I am kind of at awe too flipping a few billion for new boats! IMHO if they don’t get more aggressive in the parks they will fail to draw both new and old guests. Fantasy Land is not enough!

Remember Disneyland GO was an disaster to which Walt rethought his plans for WDW doing it right and it worked! What happened this way of thinking.

Theres all this talk about Eisner, but lets not fail to acknowledge the fact that Iger is truly ruining the word "magical" what with spending cuts, etc. I know that about 6 years ago you could go to a different park, and to each resort, and find a completely different menu for the restuarants. Not only that, but the gift shops at each of those had merch for their respective entities. Nowadays, if youre on the dining plan you can say hello to the same "1/3 Pound Chuck Angus Burger on a whole wheat roll with fries" which by the way are disgusting. Resort specific merchandise is impossible to find, and this reminded me that the refillable mugs are all generic. I'll agree that Eisner had his issues, but that is the past, and right now Iger won't be helping the parks grow much either. He is a penny pincher too, and if it'll save him a few bucks he'll take it away.

Now to say, I don't see Australia coming anytime soon. Honestly, Beastly Kingdom just might be coming at us, considering the need to compete with HP and all. I'm not saying I believe the rumors, but it seems more likely than Australia.

I agree. Eisner was an ego maniacal, self absorbed, silver spoon fed, micro managing dictator but he did oversee many great things that have made WDW (particularly) what it is today. Iger has done nothing magical or positive in any way that any other CEO wouldn't have done. He is simply an MBA working for a major company. So Iger has been far worse for the Disney 'concept' than Eisner, IMO.

Yes agree Eisner is far better then ABC's Bobby I. Plus now we have a Finance guy running the parks ":scared1:
IMHO John Lasseter should be the one running the parks in addition to Walt Disney Animation Studios or better yet CEO of Disney. Granted Igar and Staggs are good money people and turned ABC ect. around but are sacrificing there biggest treasure the Theme parks. I guess EE, LMA where approved under Eisner, what makes me wonder Igar would of not approved those projects.

If Walt did not mortgage everything a few times none of these bozos like Igar would be millionaires.

Eisner definitely had more creative juices than Bobby

but they were squelched long ago as well. all the quality sacrificing and penny pinching was instituted before Iger was put in charge...even if he has heightened them.

in a few years...they will come up with new "premium" merchandise and food locations that will offer what was the norm for 30 years...but at a much higher profit margin.

i believe that this, too, is a tactic and has been long thought out.

they don't do meticulous nearly as much on their product quality as they used too...but they sure do in accounting reviews.

of this i am certain

Best idea I've heard in a while. Just on the grounds of no more nemo rides.. :thumbsup2

Eisner had plenty of faults and those final years were ugly. But he had vision and wasn't afraid to be bold -- two things Iger definitely doesn't have.

yup! I agree no more nemo rides. As for John Lasseter he knows what entertainment is simlar to Walt. Bobby I could go run a bank and do just fine but with a entertainment conglomerate his penny pinching will catch up with him soon.

Here is another thing Disney’s #1 share holder Steve Jobs is a innovator, I wish he would get more involved.
