Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

We took Milo and Nutrigrain when we went in january and they didnt care we told them and just walked through it took 10 minutes from plane to shuttle tops!!

Hi, Has anyone taken their Australian phone over recently. We have an iPhone and a Nokia (not sure of model #). I'm pretty sure the iPhone at least will work. Sooo, what sim cards do you buy? We are travelling mainly California on the west, but also a few states on the East coast. The phones will be used for calling each other, not to call home, we'll use skype for that.

We took our iPhones. Firstly watch using data while you are away as the rates are very very bad ($15/MB plus 50c per data session!!!)
I looked into it a lot with regards to perhaps using another SIM in the phone. Well firstly you need to pay to have your phone unlocked and reset the phone via iTunes. But then the only US SIM card that would allow you data use was AT&T and the data rate was USD10/MB so not much better really. None of the "international roaming" SIM cards were any better with regards to data.

In the end we took our phones and turned off data roaming. We only used data when we had access to Wi-Fi. We planned to buy cheapie prepaids but in the end we didn't bother and just texted each other which worked great.

Hope that helps :)

With regards to the crowd: We were there 29/9 to 3/10
I actually didn't find the Tues-Thursday crowds bad at all. Most lines were less than 20 mins except Splash and Space at DL and Soaring and Screaming at DCA (hey they all start with S :woohoo: oh and TSMM Ok bang goes that theory ) Friday it got bad and Saturday (with Gay Days) much worse. But with good use of fastpasses we still didn't wait in any long lines. Weren't there when it hit capacity though; that sounds like hell!!

Thanks for that, we don't tend to use data on the phone. Really only need short calls, or texts for that matter (my other half is very slow at this though!). We may have to look at roaming a bit more closely.

I can't imagine not using data, I felt like my arm had been cut off while we were away! However, in that case it makes it super easy for you, but still turn off data roaming in case you hit one of the icons on your screen by accident. (Actually with mine it was set to off as default)

Ours was set to off as well.
At first I feel a bit cut off...but it is a good thing to be cut off overall.
And if you want wifi go to your closest Apple store... :lmao:
I think it is only for guests but there is wifi in the Grand Californian.

Most hotels seemed to have WiFi, HoJos didn't have it in the rooms, but they did have it in the public areas. Even the rest areas on the NY tollways had wi-fi :thumbsup2 I used it to post to our blog mainly.

The packing is nearly done. Loving my new packing cubes, they actually make packing fun! Tomorrow's job is to get the house clean, then we will be on our way.:banana:

YAY how exciting for you.

4 sleeps to go here - half packed, just doing a bit at a time.

Ahhh, but we'll cross over Jade :) What are packing cubes?

Hopefully the kids will keep you busy enough on the plane so you won't have time to be scared. I was getting worse and worse with each plane flight. My palms would sweat and I would be inwardly panicing. Then last year, our first trip with kids, I didn't even notice because I was doing my best to keep them happy.

I've been printing out the daily schedules for Disneyland from the Disney website every day and now I've done every day that we need. I couldn't wait to get all the schedules for our trip but now I'm a bit sad that I don't have one to wait for and print out every day at 5pm

Andona put me onto the packing cubes. I have managed to squeeze so much stuff in them. Google Eagle Creek (not good at posting links). I got mine from Bagworld in WA, with free delivery.

I am hoping the kids will take my thoughts of the flight. I am normally worse in these last few days leading up to flying. Hope the wind dies down, otherwise it may be a bumpy takeoff.

I am with you guys on the not loving the flying part of it :scared1:

I went on a plane with my kids once before - to the Gold Coast. I found that when it got rough and a bit scary I would grab their hands and squeeze as tight as I could - not deliberately, just an automatic reaction. Then they would say "what's wrong mum" and I just would mumble something about nothings wrong, just so excited :lmao:

I just realised that when I wake up in the morning I can officially say "we are going to Disneyland tomorrow". OMG how exciting :dance3: A few days ago I was getting really nervous but now I am getting super excited.

I still haven't got one of those electrical plug converter thingys. I am hoping I am going to be able to buy one at the airport because no chance of me having time to get one between now and Friday :confused3

ETA I have just cleaned out the fridge - now that has made it all seem more real :rotfl:

xxxx

Wow ausiegirls thats getting so close. We fly out on Sunday so only 4 sleeps to go for us!

I am basically packed, just the last minute things to add, i am the queen of lists at the moment

That's a bummer having a fear of flying :(
I've never had a fear but I have become very philosophical anyway in that no matter how much you panic it won't affect the flight.
The main thing to do is to keep the seatbelt on at all times :)

With the converter plugs they do sell them at the airport but you pay a premium. My favourite ones actually came from Kathmandu. We got them for 1/2price during their sale but even at full price they are a better shape it seems than some of the others as some outlets you can't fit side by side as easily. Korjo do make a double adapter but if it is a two outlet plug on the wall it covers up the other one anyway

I'll be hoping for a nice smooth flight for you guys :thumbsup2
