Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

That's GREAT! Why is it such a nightmare getting a camera bag! It took ages to decide for us. I think we got the right one as it carries cameras and the video without being too bulky :)

We got a new video camera for our trip at the start of the year and it was great.
It is a HD HDD/flash with a movable viewfinder and screen. I do like the screen but I had to have one with a good quality movable viewfinder because it is just so much easier for when you are somewhere windy (you can brace yourself more easily) and it saves battery use and can be used in the dark without disturbing others.

I was quite impressed with my footage this time (if I do say so myself :) ). Many years ago we went to Monument Valley and mum was in charge then and we had swoosh....that was monument valley...panning :lmao:
I do possibly pan a bit too slowly but the main times were when it was COLD and windy and I was trying to pan without shaking.

Do you do candid moments and random things? I pretty much just do parades at Disney. I think I might do resorts and lots of other things this time but I usually feel odd at the prospect of doing that. I know without kids I don't have them to film and my family refuse to be in the footage (as do I...that's why I'm behind the camera ;) )

One thing I had fun doing with the video camera after this trip was photo capture. This is AWESOME as you still get photos of something even if you only filmed it. It isn't perfect but it is a great feature

I do all sorts of things :) I've taken video on rides - some work well, like Small World, some not so good! I like to stand back and video DS and DH walking up Main street towards the castle as well as all sorts of odd things around the place. I do end up doing a lot of editing though - especially those clips of my feet where I was so excited I forgot to stop recording :rotfl:

Yes, i love this feature too. I bought a new camera last year and I really enjoy being able to take photos as well as video without having to swap cameras. As you say they're not the best-of-the-best photos but DH has his good camera to take the "real" photos. Mine are just for me to record the things I like :)

Hi all,

Hope you are having a good day, it's nice and warm here, just outside of Sydney. Anyways, the reason I am posting today is because I want to do a bit of a pay it forward.

Lovintheland was kind enough to pass onto me her entertainment card for my stay at the Hojo. It is going to save me quite a few dollars as several of my dates have come up at the Ent rate. Well I would like to pay it forward as she did but the only problem is that the card has to be used by the 1st of November, so I won't have time to post it when I get home.

So my proposal is, if anyone else is going to be staying at the Hojo and checking out anytime between the 25th of Oct and the 1st of Nov I would be happy to organise to meet up with you at some point on the 25th after we have checked out, to pass the card onto you so you can use when you check out.

They have plenty of days going at the ent rate at the moment so all you would have to do is call them and get them to lower your rate to the ent rate then just flash the card when you are leaving.

Anyway, I hope I can help someone else out there to get a discount just as I was helped to get a discount.

OT but I picked up some of my USD today. That money is so horrible (no offence to any lurkers :lmao: ) It all looks the same, is the same size, and it stinks :confused3

xxxxx

That's sweet of you Aussiegirl. We will be there the wrong time. Your trip is soooooooo close now. How exciting. It's a warm but clear day here in Brisbane. no sign of dust. :whew:

and it stinks

:rotfl: I must go smell ours :lmao:

Oh jacs, trust me, I didn't even need to sniff it. As soon as I opened up the little envelope it was in the stench just hit me :rotfl:

Oh my goodness. We are down to 3 sleeps. I feel completely disorganised although I'm sure the reality is that I'm not. I haven't started packing however I have begun putting random things into the spare room.

Today's TO DO LIST still looks like this:-

Make signs for Star Wars show
Buy a security timer for the house
Empty out purse of excess stuff
Make sure all toiletries and medicines that we need to take have been purchased
Charge all electrical stuff
Label cords
Set-up mobile phones for international use
Make activity book for the kids
Write list of addresses for postcards
Write list of people to buy gifts for

So that's just today, :rotfl2:

Is there anything I may have forgotten to do?

How exciting! Have your done your ESTA travel application?

Hey Mel. Yep I did those back when we booked the flights so I wouldn't forget. And I've packed the confirmations to take with me after hearing that Marvel had some trouble at customs and had to produce them.

You better get started Shuttergirl :goodvibes you're going to be busy busy busy over the next 3 days.

Oh jacs, trust me, I didn't even need to sniff it.

I still haven't got around to sniffing it but I've decided to just trust you on it. It may not help my sensitive pregnant self if I sniff something like that :lol

That's a great list - I'm going to borrow it!

We leave 2 days after you ( only 5 sleeps!!) but now I won't have a car on 2 of them so I'm starting to panic about "last minute things" - Once I start packing I nearly always have to rush out and get some last-minute item. I won't be able to do it next week so I'm going to have to pack on the weekend instead.

I was at a shopping centre yesterday and a young girl reversed out of her parking spot right into the side of my car as I was driving past :-( The car has to go to the smash repairer on Monday - I REALLY didn't need this just before our trip :sad2:

that sucks. No chance of them getting you a borrowed car while you wait?

You know what else sucks, booking you tickets and then a few weeks later finding out your pregnant and now you can't go on half the rides :rotfl:

Oh No Andona. What a shame. Terrible timing but just keep focusing on your AMAZING holiday.

I have had a fairly productive day, have found about a million more things I need to do, :rotfl:.

Isn't it always the way.

Do you like your houses absolutely spotless before you go? I do and that just adds to the pressure. But it's so nice to come home to a clean home.

How many times have you been to Disneyland?

This will be my second time and dh's 3rd. We took our two oldest children (then 6 & 8) last november. We fell in love and were already planning our next trip while we were there :rotfl:

We were originally going to go back in 2010 when our youngest would be nearly 5 but the cheap flights were way too tempting. We're glad we booked as I fell pregnant and wouldn't take a little one in 2010 so now we are going this november and I'll be 23-24 weeks pregnant.

Jacs, that has happended to me, twice!! First time we had been trying for around 2 years and decided to have a break. I found a great last minute deal, and you guessed it, I was already pregnant. I was 9 weeks when we went, and had the worst morning sickness. I still managed most of the rides.

Second time was our upcoming trip. I booked our cruise last April, then found out in June that I was pregnant. He is now nearly 8 months old. We had to add an extra room on the cruise as bub is counted in the occupancy, which more than doubled the price.

How many times have you been to Disneyland?

Including this trip:

Me - 4 times
DH - 3 times
DD(4) & DS(3) - twice
Baby - first time

I have been to WDW once, a very long time ago. It will be my families 1st visit, and this trip will be the first cruise for all of us.

I can't believe they count a babe and make you pay that much. Atleast you can still go. That must have been horrible being sick at Disneyland. ugh

Babies are counted in the occupancy on the cruise due to the lifeboat capacity. For a family of 5, it worked out cheaper for us to get 2 connecting staterooms, rather than 1 that would hold 5. The first 2 occupants in each stateroom are classified as adults, so both my kids are paying an adult fare. Bubs fare is only a few hundred dollars. The good thing about having 2 rooms is 2 bathrooms and 2 TV's.

Morning sickness and Disneyland do not mix. I am very proud to say that I did not throw up in the parks, though I do pity the people who were in the next room at HoJo's. The worst thing was craving foods that I could not get. All I wanted was a bag of Twisties and a cup of tea. The coffee smell on the plane was not too great either.
