Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

I picked up all my tickets etc today from the travel agent. How I bought all of my things was to find the cheapest price I could on the internet then printed them all out and took it into the TA and got them to beat the price - got some TA vouchers as well :thumbsup2

Anyways, it was all ready today. I picked up plane tickets, 14 day hoppers, shopping tour tickets, 2 day universal tickets and insurance. I am soooooooo excited, it is so real now :cheer2: As a bonus the TA included some international shopper discount cards (3 Macy's 10% off anything cards) and several % of duty free vouchers - it was a nice bonus :thumbsup2

Just thought I would share my excitement :dance3:

Hey I was wondering in regards to the Mrs Knott's dinner, do you actually have to go to Knotts Berry Farm to buy it or is there a separate shop you can pick it up at that is not inside of the park?

xxx

No you don't have to enter the park. There is a Knott's marketplace with several shops etc. I bought some jams from the gift shop there, and I'm not a jam lover but they are delicious. Also everyone whilst in the US you have to have a Cinnabon. There is actually one at the Knott's marketplace, but they are all over the place at shopping malls etc. They are yummy cinnamon scrolls with cream cheese frosting. Warm and gooey and not to be missed. I wish we had one here. Along with Cheesecake factory, Bubba Gumps, Tony Romas etc etc etc etc.

Oh my gosh, it all sounds soooooo yummy. I think if I ate everything I wanted to try while I am over there I would be returning the size of a house :lmao:

:lmao:
Indeed...the US isn't the place to go to to diet!!!
Of course DL is diet time as I am eating my way around Epcot and the Resorts for 2 weeks before hitting DL.... :rotfl:
My main hits are fatburger (already mentioned) and lots and lots of Ben and Jerry's icecream :woohoo: plus Dennys. What I'm still hunting for is a good Bagel place outside NYC!

Hey aussiegirls - How exciting!!! re getting tickets :) Man that really snaps it into reality!
Just read the "fine print" on the international shopper discount card for Macys....many many many exclusions including cosmetics!!! Which is the one thing I BUY from US department stores.
I loved it what they actually gave you goodies like free bags at Macys and Nike gave keyrings and HR gave shot glasses with minimal purchase. sigh...the good old days.

On a slightly unrelated note...did anyone watch GNW??? If so...
we better just remember to bring our best table manners out while we are in the US!!! We are getting a bad name :rotfl: :lmao:

Anyone seeing red (:lmao:) today because they're supposed to be either flying out or in?

We've got orange dust all over, I had a good chuckle today driving to work because you could tell all the people who kept their cars inside, vs the people who kept them outside!

I hope no one's plans are being too disrupted! :scared1:

Do you think the dust will be disrupting flights?

We dont' fly out until Monday morning but I guess it is sort of a concern.

How cool is the orange, I love it, although my car kinda looks like a mini Uluru :lmao:

Apparently it is disrupting flights Ms. Shuttergirl. I think it should be ok by Monday though, they reckon it should be cleared up by this arvo even :rotfl:

They have basically been letting the pilots decide what they want to do. Some are diverted but some are landing.

Our car was washed this morning because it was outside overnight so it didn't get embarrassed looking like it was out all night :thumbsup2 (she is very sensitive)

As for the red. The building I'm in at uni is naturally ventilated and there were louvres open all night so there is dust all through the building *cough cough*

So much for environmentally sustainable *cough cough*

The fire doors were activated in the stairwells as well because the smoke alarms thought it was smoke :lmao:

The photos look a lot like what it was like here in February with the bushfires. We had the orange sky, and dust/ash all over. Hopefully it is gone quickly, especially for you Ms Shuttergirl.

A postcard just arrived in the mail for the kids from Mickey Mouse (aka Czardas). I don't know whether the kids will be excited but it sure did send a little shiver of excitement into my belly, :lmao:

By Monday you should be fine, we just need some rain - AND NO WIND!! - and it should all settle down.

I tell you what, it was weird to wake up to a yellow room, even though our blinds and windows were all closed

By Monday it should be fine
The red is pretty much gone. The visibility is better but there is still that nasty dust in the air and with the wind my eyes aren't having much fun :(
This was when I got to central and then uni early this morning

How bizaar is the orange storm, a picture paints a thousand words.

We may be staying at PPH as expedia has awesome rates at the moment, even pretty cheap for DLH but DH wouldn't go for it LOL

I figure why not, we're going all that way, will be a long time before we're there again, waiting for DH to email me back :)

:(
NSW Health has warned Sydney is experiencing its worst polluition conditions for 70 years because of today's dust storm, causing a major health alert.

Director of NSW Health Environment Health branch, Wayne Smith, told The Daily Telegraph today that dust and pollution problems were expected to continue for three more days.

Mr Smith said Sydney was now facing a major health alert not just for people with illnesses but also healthy residents.

He said the high pollution levels sweeping the city were causing highly hazardous conditions and he advised Sydneysiders to stay indoors, keep any medication nearby, wear a mask, avoid exercise and do not use gyms.

"Children, older adults and people with heart and lung conditions are most susceptible to the effects of particle pollution," NSW Health said.

"These people especially should avoid outdoor activities today (Wednesday)," it said in a statement.

Aughhh, hubby has to take a flight out of Sydney tomorrow....

Those pictures are amazing.

(still lurking in the shadows of your thread! :) )

It's all pretty much normal again. Blue slightly overcast sky. Everything needs a good washdown, footpaths, trees, and cars all have a layer of red dirt, and I can still smell some dirt in the air. I think flights should be ok tomorrow.

Just noticed the clock and realised exactly one week from now we'll be arriving at the airport!!

I bought a new camera bag today for my video camera - I felt like Goldilocks, one Camera Bag was toooo big, the other was toooo small but this one was just right!
Excuse my silliness - I think the dust got into my brain ;)

This time I'm determined to make my video look more professional - we've had video cameras for a long time and as the cameras have become smaller I think the video I produce is getting worse and worse - with a little camera it just seems harder to keep it level and to avoid panning too fast etc.

Is anyone else planning on taking their video camera on this trip? I'm looking forward to comparing my movie from our first Disneyland trip to this one :)
