Hey I was wondering if anyone has done, or is planning on doing, the Fantasmic dessert seating? At first I just thought no way as it is just soooooo expensive, and you can just see it for free. But now as it is all getting closer I am reconsidering. It's not on every day that we are going to be there, so we have only a few opportunities to see it.

I am def not waiting around for hours on end to have a good spot but if I get the dessert seating I hear you still have to line up hours before to get a good spot, and I don't want to do that. If I do it I want to just rock up 5 mins before it starts and plonk my bum on a seat.

Czardas said that it was so worth it and that is part of the reason I am reconsidering. Should I, shouldn't I, should I, shouldn't I........................

The article I was reading said construction delays have forced the date back to mid-october. I hope that is right. I love the lake.

We'll be there from the 15th to the 17th - looks like we'll only see it filling at best. Oh well.

I wouldn't because I find the Disneyland one disappointing compared to WDW. (but with the new dragon....maybe it is better)

As for "seats" I believe there are seats for those with the buffet but there are NO seats for anyone else. There are areas to sit on the ground and I think a few standing areas.

I think 59.99 per person for what you get is a downright ripoff
This is what I saw about it

FANTASMIC DESSERT BUFFET

* Premium seating: $59 per adult (10+) / $49 per person (3-9) 2 and under are free provided they sit on your lap

This Premium Seating is set up along the river, in an area in front of the Haunted Mansion. Guests are served beverages by attending cast members before the show, and can help themselves to the dessert buffet. Desserts that we have enjoyed included cookies, Mickey rice krispies, chocolate dipped strawberries, macaroons, etc.. Seating is determined by first come first serve. About an hour before Fantasmic, go to the seating area with all of your tickets, and sign in with the cast member. About a half hour before the show they start seating in the order that people have checked in. Everyone in your party must be there with their ticket in order for your party to be seated. If you are not there, then they'll take the next person on the list. After the first show, guests can remain to watch the fireworks, if there are fireworks that night.

It is a good show and if you haven't seen it before then you want to see it...

But I wouldn't pay that much for the 4 of us, let alone each.

For me I will wait 1.5hrs for Fantasmic at WDW where there is stadium seating (for FREE) but I just can't justify it at Disneyland.

If you have limited time, never seen it, and have young ones, then maybe...but I still wouldn't.

Can't help you sorry I'm still considering it - we have around a week to decide. I'd like to know if there is an AP discount on it too, that might sway me a little. There's just that little nagging feeling that my 3YO might completely freak out...

I did the Fantasmic buffet a few years ago. We did the one on the balcony vs the one on the ground. We loved it but it was not necessarily good value for money. The dessert foods back then were nice I am not sure if they are the same or not. The view was fabulous and it was soooo nice to keep riding rides while everyone else was saving seats. Plus you kind of felt really special and you were treated very well. I think we would do it again if we went to Dland because I hate wasting vacation time waiting in lines or saving seats and we love fantasmic.

Okay everyone, I only have 11 sleeps to go but also leave town tomorrow for 5 days with for a dancing comp for my daughter. Which will leave me 5 days to plan and organise when I get back.

What could I have forgotten to do? What are on your last minute lists?

MsShuttergirl going away for 5 days at this point is great You will have less time to stress and countdown as your mind will be on other things.

I don't know about last minute things to do. Everytime I go away I always get the feeling that I have forgotten something (it's usually pyjamas) or left something on at home.

- sunscreen (my dad will never live that down)
- tickets....ALL tickets
- photocopies of tickets and passports in luggage.
- photocopies of TCs in Luggage OR...a list of the numbers on them
- medication - 2lots in 2 different locations (for crucial ones)
- It is also a good idea to carry a copy of your prescription should you need to get a replacement
- If you wear prescription glasses then again a copy of the prescription is a good idea should you need a replacement
- Don't leave cans of fizzy drink in the fridge....we have come back to exploded pepsi cans. (that was our old fridge though)
- HAVE FUN

children??? We don't want to hear about a home alone story

I have a checklist for every area of the house (I know, compulsive planner!!). I have a list of things to be done a couple of weeks out like mail redirection, notifying neighbours, checking what bills will be due while we are away and all that stuff.

I then have another list for all the last minute stuff - checking windows are closed, turning off taps, unplugging appliances, emptying fridge etc. I print it out, and give it to DH with a highlighter and that is his job while I am packing. I am such a worry wart. I spent one trip away wondering if we had locked the garage door.

We're going to do it with our party of 7, not once but twice. I'm scared the show will be cancelled at least one of those times so if we only book once we might miss out :lol: I know it's soooooooooooo expensive but we can't just pop over to Disneyland whenever we want :lol: Dh is going to stake out the front row seats and maybe the 2nd time we'll just rock up and get back row or something. I'm really excited about it. How much notice do you need to give if you wish to cancel? You may be able to cancel the 2nd show if the first goes ahead. Or you may love it that much that seeing it twice will be really really cool!

ok i know this isn't really theme park related but i just went and saw up in 3d coz it came out today and it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! everyone go see it.........NOW! its really different to previous pixar films but i say that everytime i c a new one but seriously it was sooooo good.

I think you might need to blame the cinema you saw the movie at because I saw UP! last week and it had the cute little animated short movie before it. It was adorable!

Question around prescriptions - do you have to carry them on the plane with you to show in the USA on arrival ?

Is there any danger in packing a pair of scissors in your checked luggage ? Is that a guarantee your bag will be searched ? What about eyebrow pluckers and nail files ?

I don't know if you have to carry prescriptions on you but I would anyway. If your bags get lost or something and you end up without your prescriptions it would be very inconvenient.

Another medicine question for anyone that knows, is there anything that we are not allowed to bring into the US? What I think I will have is 2 kinds of puffers and some antihistamines. I am just wondering if I am going to have any issues getting them through customs.
