Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

Andona, I definitely think this is what is happening with us. I definitely need to change cards when we get back.

Gogo - I have a question re the Amex, I always thought alot of places didn't accept Amex. Am I wrong?

Amex is accepted at a lot more places now.I find it is only the very small independent businesses that don't accept it any more, that is when I use my Visa, otherwise it is Amex all the way:thumbsup2
We do all our grocery shopping, petrol etc with Amex I also pay my school fees($40000) year with Amex so that adds up.
We also pay off in full each month,

Platypus, quick question about Frequent Flyer points. Do you accumulate them solely from using your credit card for purchases? The reason I ask is we have an ANZ credit card that accumulates points but it appears that no matter what we spend we get a set amount each month, and it isn't many points let me tell you. Which is frustrating because I use the same card for all of my business purchases and personal purchases. So I'm looking around to get a new credit card when we get back from this trip, just wondering who other's use to get lots of points up?

I have the earth card through Westpac. You get two cards linked to the one account a Mastercard and an Amex. You earn one point per $ with Amex and 1 point per $2 if you use the mastercard. No limit on the number of points you accumulate. I also collect points via Woolies-one point per $ on transactions over $30.00.
I pay for everything I can with the cc using the Amex where accepted. The points really add up.
We go to America generally ever second Christmas (lately we've been going annually) and I very rarely pay for our US domestic flights. For us it works out to a savings of around $2400.00 per trip because when we would normally go its hard to get cheap domestic flights.

Andona shared a link to some cool packing things last week sometime, from Eagle Creek I think.

I went and bought some on her recommendation and was really impressed with how much they held. I'm not entirely sure they save as much space as Queenie's space bags, however things come out wrinkle free, and nothing moves around the case which is a real bonus.

In the 18" pack, I was able to fit the following for my husband:-

2 jeans
2 shorts
5 t-shirts
1 pj pants
1 boardshorts
1 jumper

Wow, that a fair bit, well done.

yes, that's right Eagle Creek is the brand. This was what I posted about 50 pages back :)

I also use the travel space bags that Queenie mentioned for bulky things like Parkas. However, I really like the folders for packing all our shirts/pants/shorts etc.

Bye for now
Andona

thanks for sharing that link again, what a great product :)

I don't think there's too many of us left in here. A lot of people have gone :goodvibes

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, is there anybody out there :flower3:

xxxx

Still here!!! My job for today is to measure the suitcases to work out what size packing cubes to order.

Nearly at the 30 day mark, so I am busy deciding what new lens I am going to buy for my camera so I can claim the duty back.

Hi everyone!!

I just had to finally say hi to you all and tell you how much I have enjoyed reading this thread the past few months.:)

I traveled with my family to L.A, Las Vegas and Disneyland in September 2007 and is was the best holiday we have ever had!!

We are now planning to go to Disneyworld and Florida in September 2010 which I can hardly wait for.

To everyone traveling this year I wish you all a great holiday and look forward to reading some Aussie/Kiwi trip reports when you all return.:yay:

Hi CairnsGirl,
:wave2:

You're spacing your trips about the same as us - we did Disneyland in 2005 and WDW in 2008. You're going to just love Disneyworld :)

I also should say I just love your part of the country - Palm Cove is one of my favourite places on the planet !

Andona

I'm with you Andona, Palm Cove has to be one the most beautiful places in the world.
Cairns girl,
There is quite a few of us that have done WDW so ask away.
Do you know where you are staying??

46 days here.

I went to the shopping centre today and had a look at those packing cubes, then I thought about it and at this stage I don't have all that much to even put in my suitcase LOL

I think I am going to spend some serious cash LOL

I'm still here, for a couple more days anyway. Have been busy getting the house organised before I leave. Making sure hubby and dog are both well fed while we are away.
Bought my Park Hopper tickets today. Now all I have to do is book Fantasmic on Thursday and we will be all set.

Hi :goodvibes
It's been some time since we were up there (and I couldn't live up there because I'm a mozzie delicacy) but I did very much enjoy Tropical Queensland!

I'm glad to hear you had a great holiday in 07!

Andona
Ah yes spacing trips.
I remember when we did the DVC tour in 07 we were looking at it from the point of view of a trip every 3 years given our history. (96, 00, 03, 07)

Of course that is gradually becoming more frequent :lmao:

Be careful...once you go to WDW...you'll wanna go back more and more often :rotfl:

Hope the planning goes well:woohoo:

Hi all, yes I do feel spoilt living up here sometimes. I am originally from Sydney and love the relaxed lifestyle of Cairns.

I have been looking at the Port Orleans Resort and also the Swan/Dolphin for my WDW trip. I am also looking at the Royal Pacific Resort for our Universal stay.

I am normally spend most of my time on here going through the WDW forums to get all the tips and information.

It's so much more complex than a trip to Disneyland!! I am glad I have a year to plan it all:)
