Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

I always just ring the airline to sort out special meals and seating.
United allowed me to choose during the booking process which was really good.

I just called V Australia today to talk seat allocations and they were wonderful.

The girl told me that I didn't have a seat allocation yet so she asked me what I wanted. When I told her window she said that she had a row of extra leg-room available on both my flights and would I like it. Of course I would, so she allocated those for us. YAAAAYYY!!!!!

That's great. Did you have to pay extra for those seats? I was reading on their website that the exit row seats were an extra $150. (not that we can sit in them anyway with the kids).
As soon as we sort out these dates, I can ring them too, thanks for the info.

Mel it didn't cost me any extra to get those seats. I bought the tickets a few months ago but only just rang up today to ask about seat allocation so no charges were involved.

The girl was soooooo nice. I just wanted to ask about window seats but she looked and told me about the roomier ones and asked if I would like them - like I would say no :rotfl: So didn't cost any extra and I am super impressed with their customer service :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Just curious, what row are your seats in?

I am not positive (because I didn't write it down) but I think it is row 26, seats ABC one way and same row seats HJK the other.

Thanks for that info. I've just booked :yay: Didn't realise that the V Australia sale ended tonight...so I had to do it!
I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and pretty much beg for the roomier seats (was reading their website, and they are different from the exit row)

Now I have to change my ticker, we're going two days earlier than previously planned :)

What sale ended????

For those going to DL in September, are you worried about rides being closed and no fireworks during the week? And isn't Haunted Mansion closed around this time of year getting ready for the Halloween display?

According to the V Australia website, their sale fares to LA ended on June 10.

Of course, those prices are still available this morning...Oh well, we're going!!

Mel

OH whew Mel, I was sweating. Am trying to convince hubby to do a quick trip in September, he's taking a little while to come around. I would die if the fares ended yesterday, :rotfl2:

I would probably keep an eye on those prices. When I checked Qantas yesterday afternoon the price for our dates was $4073, by 9pm it was over $4400 for the same dates. Qantas was my last choice, so it didn't make too much difference to me. 3 days ago Air New Zealand (my first choice) was under $4000 for our dates, by last night it was $4800ish.

I'm not too worried about rides, and we are there in late September when the HM will be open again. But I'm pretty worried about the fireworks, we are there Monday-Saturday and so the friday may be the only fireworks night and we hope to be at the Trick or Treat Party that night :(
Oh well, I guess we will see them from CA even if we don't get all the music and stuff for full effect.

kylieh I am fairly certain that we are not in the emergency exit rows so I must have the row number wrong. Are the emergency exit rows any good?

I just organised our seat allocation, and we are in row 27 which they told me was right behind the exit row - so you must be in it! Lucky you. That means there will be no-one in front of you, lots of leg room to stretch out.

For others flying with V in squashy seats, the customer service rep told me this morning that while I couldn't book the bassinet row now, if I called about a week before we travel and it was still available we could get it then. Fingers crossed for some extra leg room.

Mel

For those families that are 4 people, how do you go with the 3 seats in a row thing? Qantas appears to have 4 in a row but V Australia doesn't for the economy

It's the bassinet one, that's the row we got, not the emergency exit one - now I remember.

The girl asked if I wanted the bassinet row and when I said that my kids won't be in a bassinet she said that it doesn't matter and she could put us in there anyway. Said it is much roomier and will give the kids a bit more wriggle room if they needed it (hopefully they will be sleeping though :lmao: )

Am starting to get really excited :cloud9: :woohoo: :yay: :cheer2:

I would go the 3 near the window, and then one across the aisle (same row). That way one adult can keep the kids 'contained' and no-one will disturb the kids if they are sleeping etc.

There are 5 in our family and we are having the 3 near the window and 2 across the aisle. I figure DH can keep the younger 2 trapped by the window (nicely of course! lol!), and then DD8 and I will sit in the middle.

I think Qantas flies 747's to LA so thats why they are 3-4-3 where as V Australia flies 777 airplanes so they must not be quite so much room or they are more generous but I doubt it :rotfl:
