I just wanted to reach out and ask for positive thoughts for myself and my family.
My dad's only sister is in the hospital. They were not particularly close, thus I was not particularly close to her. I cannot even imagine what it must be like, losing a sibling, even if you are not close.
We got a call two days ago, saying her husband took her to the hospital, she was treated and released, then once she got home, she started talking weird (possibly a stroke?) He took her back to the hospital and told us he would keep us updated.
Today, her husband called again, and said she has been put in critical care. She had an MRI yesterday, but no results yet. The doctors suggested that he get in contact with any family, because it is not looking good. So, my dad is trying to get off work and get home, so that they can rush to the hospital. Unfortunately, the hospital is 2 1/2 hours away.
Obviously, I am hoping against hope that she is able to recover from this. But, if this is the end, I hope that my parents are able to get up there in time to say goodbye.
Again, I cannot imagine how hard this must be on my dad. Maybe it will be easier, since they weren't in each other's lives that much anyway. I know for me, it is almost harder, because I have this feeling of regret in my stomach, I should have written her a letter or given her a call.
It's hard getting older, isn't it?
