How hard is it to secure a week in a 1 BR for the summer (July-beginning of Aug) at the 7 month mark? Better luck with a studio?
Also, is there some type of tax DVC members have to pay when staying there?
Thanks for any info. Trying to plan our first trip there.
I haven't tried to book aulani, so I can't answer the difficulty question. Timeshare owners have to pay a room tax/transient tax on every stay.
From the DVC Website: For all stays at Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas, Ko Olina, Hawai'i, the State of Hawai'i imposes a nightly transient accommodations tax based upon the number of Vacation Points required for the stay and the Annual Dues per Vacation Point for the calendar year of the stay. This tax must be paid by Check-Out. The amount of the tax will vary from year to year and is subject to change.
You might have better luck in August than July, and I think better luck with a 1-bedroom! Standard may be tough, if you can go island view or higher you may be good.
We stayed in a 1 bedroom Island View in the last week of July 2017. I booked with no issue right at the 7 month mark. Good Luck! Aulani is beautiful!!!
