For those that have stayed at Aulani what was the per point transient fee that you had to pay upon your departure from the resort?

Parking for DVC members is free and internet is free for DVC members too, correct?

What other DVC perks at this time? (Dining discounts, spa discounts, activities discounts, etc.?)

I was told that parking is free for DVC members (showing their card), not (non-member) guests who are staying in a DVC Villa (e.g. Someone who rented points or had a reservation made in their name). I have read that DVC members can (self) park up to two cars during their visit -- if they have a DVC card to show.

I've called the hotel twice and was told something different each time. I am going in December -- A DVC member booked my reservation (I rented points).

Clearly I don't want to pay an additional $35/day for parking (x7 Days), but it just may be the cost of visiting Hawaii.

I'd love to hear from any non-DVC members who stayed at Aulani with a DVC studios/villas reservation. Did you pay for parking? How did that work?

What mode of transportation would you advise?

The sign on the parking garage says free for Disney Vacation Club Members up to two cars per reservation. We are still here so haven't checked out yet to know if we need to show our DVC card or not.

I can't imagine staying here with no car. As beautiful as location as Aulani is it is out there and I know we would feel really trapped without a car . The next town over which is where the Target, Costco, etc are is about a 15 minute drive.

And so far there haven't been any perks/discounts for DVC other than the parking/internet.

Emily,
I would love to know what they say about parking. We prefer to rent a car if the parking is free -- We are staying in a DVC studio, but we are not DVC members.
Thanks again for your updates and news!

I heard from another member staying there last week that he had to go to valet and show his DVC card (sorry renters!) in order to have them stamp his ticket.

I know the fee is a percentage of dues & tax rate x points... I also know there was an initial screw-up with dues posted, does anybody know what they are speculating the dues will in fact be (not the grandfathered but actual dues). Not that it will make that much of a difference on the Transient Fee we need to pay; but I am just curious. :confused3

Aulani sales are still on hold and DVD hasn't announced the new price or the dues amount.

I was hoping someone had a speculated price ... LOL people seem to know everything else DVC related before it's released why not this ;) ;)

If the sales are on hold, someone better tell the people at Disneyland. I went to just look at the rooms with a friend of mine and the only reason he did not get a contract there was because he did not clear it with his wife. The guide was ready to sell him the points. This was last Wed.

Anythings possible, but I was told yesterday by DVD corporate that sales are still on hold and they are taking names for re-contact if you are interested in buying.

Very interesting. Here at Disneyland they are promoting like it was the end of the world.

Are they writing contracts of just promoting? What prices are the quoting?

The guide we were with asked if my friend wanted to go get the info, then he remembered that his wife was nit with him, and that she would have killed him for looking into it. At no time did she ever indicate that he could not sign up.

...so back to the parking... we are DVC members, staying at Aulani in January '12 at the villas, BUT we are out of points (went on and loved the 11 day DCL Med Cruise this last July and it ate all of our points for the foreseeable future) so are staying on cash in a one bedroom- if we show our card can we park for free?

Makes the decission to rent a car real easy if it is free. If not $35 a day adds up quick.

Thanks!

Correct

Long story short - for 2011 - 1 BR O/V - the Hawaii transient tax was around +/- $8.00 per night.

This answer took me 30 minutes and two phone calls to member services to confirm. All I was looking for was an order of magnitude - was it $10/night, $50/night, or $150/night - it should not have taken that long on the phone to get me to the answer that it's going to be around $40 for four nights.

Thank you, it took me several threads to find....:rotfl2:
