Aulani to VGC points re-allocation booking process?

Hello everyone!
I wanted to check with you guys how the points re-allocation work with DVC? I currently have 260 Aulani points and my offer just got accepted for a 50pt VGC contract. I was hoping to book a Studio VGC room at the 11 month window then switch the Aulani points at the 7 month window? Can I do that? Since I will have more Aulani points than VGC. I was advised by a cast member that points re-allocation can only happen after the current reservation is cancelled and re-booked if the rooms are still available. As we all know VGC studios are very difficult to book at 7 months is there a work around? Hoping for your expert opinions.

No, any room booked during the home resort priority period must use those points. Only if the room type is still available to book could you use the Aulani points. With VGC, the chances are close to zero.

You cannot evade home resort window.

As you were told you'd have to cancel and try and rebook with the Aulani points if you weren't able to straight out book with the Aulani points at 7 months. Cancel and rebooking is not going to work often, if ever.
