Hello

Wondering apart from high floor which room/area would be good to request ..... Two adults ....

Deluxe Studio‑Island Gardens View

Many thanks :)

We are two adults who just returned home from a 7 night Aulani stay. We had reserved a one bedroom garden island view and were given Room 1571 in the Ewa tower and we loved it. Our villa overlooked the garden where they hold the Starlight Hui and also had a great view of the ocean. Would love to have this assignment again.

Island Gardens view 1-bedroom coming up in just a few weeks, very excited! Just wanted to clarify, is everyone referring to making a request when you made the room reservation initially? or over the phone shortly before arrival? or at check-in? I feel like I should know the answer by now from reading this board so much, but I'm never quite sure when the request is made.

agreed! we also had a one-bedroom island garden view. i called to request higher floor in the ewa tower and we got 1671 (one floor above @Silver Queen i'm assuming). this was our view from the master bedroom balcony:

@cmph : i called a couple months before our arrival to make the request. i don't think there's a rule of when to call per se. just don't wait until the day before, i guess. ;)

We called Member Services a few months before our trip and just asked that we not be put on the first floor. The DVC rep that I spoke to said that she would put "higher floor" on our reservation. The building and view that we received were just pure luck.

Yes, with the exception of the covered portion garden this was our view. It looks like that was set up for a private event. During the week that we were there we saw them set up for a couple of weddings, but none of them had a covering over the garden.

yes, this was for a private LPGA dinner that took place on the lawn the day after our arrival (april 11). there was a LPGA tournament across the street at the Ko O'lina Golf Club all week, and this was related. i realized afterwards that this was why there was no starlit hui that monday; it got pushed to tuesday instead.

We have a studio with an poolside garden view reserved. We are thinking of requesting 1st floor. Has anyone on here stayed on the first floor? I'm assuming you can walk out of your patio. Any other pros/cons or particular location requests?

There was a report done a little while back with a detailed section on ground level pool garden view rooms, this traveller really liked it for his young family (here is the link)

BUT for me, I remember the last time we were at Aulani, I was walking back from the lazy river and there was a couple sitting out on their ground level lanai and I thought WOW-zero privacy in that unit! I know I personally would not be very comfortable in that situation.

That is the exact issue I'm having now! I would request a high room now if it were just my husband and me, no question. But that ground floor option sounds really appealing with the kids. We just got back from a long weekend at DL, 5th floor at the GC, and now I can totally see how avoiding the extra walking and elevators would be pleasant when the kids are tired or you're just trying to drop into your room quickly/briefly. It's not like we were that far or anything, but practically anything that involves an elevator is going to involve a little waiting and some out-of-the-way walking. A direct route straight to your room sounds pretty nice. And I say that with complete realization that I sound ridiculous b/c I don't even have a stroller to deal with anymore! Privileged much?? (at least I know it, ha!) Plus having no real need to deal with the chairs situation would be good.

oh but the view at a higher level is so worth the 2 minutes of extra walk... ;)

I think that's what we've decided. :)

Our travel agent booked this request on our res (which was forever ago before I even used the boards): "EWA LAWN OR WAILANA VIEW". She did that on her own b/c I had no clue about anything. I drive her crazy b/c I always cheap out and get standard views, but she refused to let me do that for Aulani, ha! She is totally right, I realize now. So does this request sound good? Other than the high floor part not being there? I can always have her make changes. Everyone's always talking about Ewa, but I'm not sure if the lawn and Wailana parts are something I've seen others talk about.

ewa lawn, yes, but I'm not sure about the wailana view and what that would give you, so perhaps others can comment. we like the ewa tower because the kids' club is at the end of that wing. if you are in the other tower it may add another 2-3 minutes of walking.

lol re. your agent!
