What are the best times of year to visit Hawaii weatherwise?

Why are points so low in Jan? Is it rainy season? It seems like winter would be a popular time to visit Hawaii.

It is rainy season. From January-March it's more rainy than usual. But the temps are pretty consistent. A little higher in the Summer months.

When we were at Ko Olina last year in mid June, we thought the weather was perfect. It never rained on us there, and was warm and sunny.

Don't worry about rainy season at Aulani. It is on the leeward side of the island so it gets very little rain. Temps are pretty consistent all year. Summer being a little higher, 95, winter 80. Don't hesitate to go during winter.

November and January are pretty similar. There is more rain but in 3 Thanksgiving trips and 3 January trips, I have yet to have a trip where weather was that much different than our June or August trips. Usually about 2-4 degrees different in the day and 4 to 6 at night. We had one day at Aulani year before last during Thanksgiving week that was pretty breezy and overcast. Although, the temperature did not read much lower, it sure felt like it. Being from Seattle, it still felt good, but I could see being disappointed in the weather that day. We had a big rain day last year during our November stay in Waikiki and another last August or the one before. I feel comfortable traveling there anytime of the year, but we get to go often, so that might influence it. If a big weather front came in for three days of a shorter trip, it might be a big let down.

I have been to Hawaii in late April/early May, July, over Labor Day weekend and in late October. The weather was always close to perfect. I have an aunt who's been in March and she had some rain and wind and cooler temps so I guess YMV. We primarily go in the summer due to school schedules and being able to go for longer and visit more islands but I would think if you have enough time that spring or fall would be less risky than Dec-March as far as weather. IMHO I think it's too far to go for only a week and to only 1 island. I went for only a week on my first trip and would never do that again.

We were there the last week of Feb/ First week of Mar this year..

The first week we were staying on the eastern side of the island.. Had spotty rain .. not too bad.. even when it's raining it's beautiful.

We actually had MORE rain when at Aulani .. The day we were leaving it rained ALL day.. heavy rain. We weren't at the resort all day though. We left our luggage there and drove into Honolulu to return our snorkle gear. We planned to hit Dole Plantation for a Dole Whip and just to check it out, but the rain caused such traffic delays we skipped it. Had to get back to Aulani to pick up our luggage.. (and our 24 yo son who stayed to hang out in the pools.. hahaha) Apparently it cleared for a bit there because he got his swim time in..

I think points are low in Jan because it's not a popular time for people to travel.

We've been in Sept and Oct and had great weather. When it's raining in one place it is sunny on another part of the island.

We were there in January of this year and I probably wouldn't go again in January. Previously we were there in June and August and I would say the weather was close to perfect.

This year in January it rained some almost every day and we had 2 days, including our last day, that were almost a total washout. It would be sunny for 1/2 hour, we'd lay out our towels, and it would start pouring rain again. We dealt with this 3 or 4 times until we gave up trying to be out in the sun. We also tried to out-drive the rain one day by heading to the East edge of the island, up through the North Shore area, and down through the Dole Plantation area. It rained the entire day and in all locations. A lot of times the rain is more localized on Oahu.

I spoke with someone at the valet and he said that the last week had been a little unusual in regards to rain, but not unheard of for the January season.

The other thing we didn't like about January were the evenings were much cooler. On previous trips we would be out until midnight in our shorts and tshirts. Most evenings after sunset we needed long sleeves or a sweatshirt in the evenings.

I do realize that the weather patterns were a little goofy in January. We went to Sunset beach and it was closed due to dangerously high surf, so we may have had an exception, but January was not the perfect weather we've had on our other visits.

Been to Aulani twice, both times President Week in February and the weather was perfect. No rain. I did ask someone who worked there, in the gift shop, when was the worst time to visit and she said summer. It's very, very crowded and so hot...she said.
