I've been to Aulani once before, about 2-3 years ago. Will be going back next year.
I stayed in a studio. Is there a big difference between a studio and the hotel rooms?

My situation is:
Taking my niece and her family. Will be 6 of us in all, 3 adults, a 22, 19 and 16 year old.
We will be staying at Aulani for 2 nights at the beginning of our trip and 2 nights at the end.
I could book a 2BR, but since we won't be in the room that much, it seems like a lot of points to use (60/night). A studio is 22 per night and hotel room is 18/night. I could get 2 studios or 2 hotel rooms.
Opinions and advice welcome!
Thanks!

Aloha Tek224,

My first thought is good luck getting a hotel room, much less 2! My understanding is that there is an extremely small number of hotel rooms that can be booked with DVC points. Some silly number like only 6 or something. So I recommend you shoot for the Studios! Happy planning! :flower3:

Biggest difference with the studio(s) is lack of a washer/dryer in room, and no full kitchen. If you can live without those amenities, the two studios may give you a bit more privacy as well as point savings.

My experience was that the hotel room with 2 queens was preferable for my family of 4 because the pull out sofa just wasnt as nice to sleep in as a true bed and you will have the odd 3rd person in each room on that sofa bed. If not having a full kitchen isnt an issue then I would consider the two hotel rooms first, if it was me. I do believe SouthernGirl is correct though, it is hard to get the hotel rooms. Maybe, since you are doing a split stay, you could try to get hotel rooms for one part and studios for the other.

There are 8 DVC hotel rooms at Aulani. They have a parking lot view. They are the same layout as a cash hotel room. I would think it would be very difficult to get two of those rooms. But they are nice that they have two beds versus a bed and pull out couch. And I believe only the studio has a microwave. Good luck on getting the reservations you want.

BTW, if you are able to get only one DVC hotel room, the standard view studios are in the opposite wing of the resort. You'll be as far apart as you can be at Aulani.
