We want to book a luau when we are at Aulani in September. If we book it privately (either Paradise cove or Germaines), it is a lot cheaper than thru Disney. How would we get there if we dont have a car? Can we walk it? taxi? Bus?

Does Aulani itself have its own luau? Or anything comparable? We are two retired adults travelling without kids.

Thanks,
Tony

Paradise Cove is in Ko Olina near to Aulani. It's been 30 years since I've been to the paradise Cove luau. I hear it is a short walk from Aulani.

There are coupons in the Entertainment book for both Paradise Cove and Germaine's. Paradise cove is a short walk from Aulani. About a 15 minute stroll on a sidewalk. You can look on their website to see the different levels. We were there a couple of weeks ago. Wouldn't recommend it but some people like it.
Disney puts on a show 2 evenings a week(Sunday and Thursday currently) called the Starlit Hui. It's entertaining with Hawaiian music, dancing, ukeleles etc. Lasts about an hour. No charge.

We were at Aulani earlier this year and the Starlit Hui is definitely worth seeing, but is not a traditional luau in that there's no food. If you decide to go to Paradise Cove or Germaine's, PM with your contact info and I will send you the 25% off coupons (good for up to 4 people) from our Entertainment book since we ended up not going. The coupon has to be used before November 1st. Aulani is a beautiful resort and you will have a great time there!

Paradise Cove was a good experience for us in April until they brought out the food. It was horrible and way overcooked. :sad2:

I wouldn't waste a dime by going there. The Hui is as good a show as any and save the $$ and eat at Aulani.

But if you insist on going to Paradise Cove, buy the cheapest seats available. We made the mistake of buying the VIP, Royal Box for our anniversary, spent $250 and regretted it. :guilty:

Good luck with your decision. popcorn::

Starlit Hui is a nice show and Paradise Cove is walking distance to Aulani. i can confirm the Entertainment book bogof coupons! Have fun!

Paradise Cove is about a 15 minute downhill walk from Aulani. If you Google Paradise Cove tickets, a few consolidators will come up. These tickets are way cheaper than if you buy directly or from Disney. Buy the cheap seats...the Luau frequently does not fill up and you can see pretty well from everywhere.

Germaine's Luau is not walk-able from Aulani...there are a few other newer luaus in Waikiki that I can't comment on...I would go on Yelp.com for reviews.
