So I was wondering if the Disney Aulani resort had packages for dinning and such. I know that for all the times we've been to Disney world, we've gotten certain packages with a particular amount of meals a day or ones that give you access to other parts of the park. My question is, is Aulani like that? I know you have to reserve spa treatments and dinner reservations, but are their certain things you can only access with a particular pass? (Sorry, I know my wording is not best!) I really want to go for my B-day in the fall. Money though is tight around here. It probably won't happen, but a girl can always dream! :goodvibes

There's other options for staying in that Ko Olina beach resort area. I would try vrbo for a condo at one of the other resorts. We went in 2010 while Aulani was being built. LOVED OUR CONDO at the Ko Olina Beach Villas. FABULOUS!!!

I don't think there are any dining packages yet since they just opened. Another option you might try is staying for one night, but enjoy two full days or if your budget allows two night stay so u can have three full days, and then stay somewhere else for the beginning or remainder of your trip. We're a family of five and we stayed only one night, but enjoyed two full days, and we stayed somewhere else for the beginning of our trip. Aulani was the highlight of our trip. The hotel allows you to check in early, leave bags with bell hop, start enjoying amenities and get a text message when room is ready. When it was time for check out, we left our bags with bell hop, enjoyed the amenities all day long and took showers in a lounge for those who have already checked out.

Right now, they have packages where kids eat free, and you get a daily snorkeling pass among other things.

They also have a discount for Hawaii residents.
There are some things that are included in your stay and others that you have to pay extra for.
Here's a link to the lists of what is included and what requires an extra fee:

Right now, the character breakfast is only available to hotel guests for reservations. Apparently, the open tables are released the night before for anybody else, but as the character breakfast is only 3 days a week, I imagine it fills up fast. I'm sure a lot of things at the hotel are like this - limited access to non-guests. Many of the "excursions" are operated by Adventures by Disney though, so I imagine anyone can participate in most of these.

If you're trying to go to Hawaii on a budget, staying at Aulani is probably not your best option, but it really depends on what you expect from the experience.

They are having the kids eat free package right now.

We are heading to Aulani for Thanksgiving this year. We chose to rent DVC points and booked a 1Br Island view for about $200 less than a standard hotel room would cost. This provides us with a full kitchen, much more space and also a washer/dryer. We are traveling with friends who have been to Aulani before and plan on hitting Costco, Target etc to buy drinks, snacks and breakfast/lunch items to save $$.
