We are heading to Aulani next week and at this moment the forecast is calling for a couple days of rain. Has anyone been there in the rain and can recommend some things to do at the resort or on the island with two young kids (our boys are 5 and 2)?

Drop off the kids at Aunty's Beach House and head to the spa!!!

Hawaii weather is strange to most people from the mainland USA. It can be totally beautiful weather on one side of the island while it is a complete downpour on the other side (just a few miles away). Check the weather and you may be able to check out another side of the island.

We were there a couple of weeks ago with our DD who is 4 and it rained one day while we were there. Because of the bad weather, they had some activities set up in the community hall that were geared towards families. Check your daily IWA or ask the front desk and they can let you know what activities are planned for the day. I would recommend the spa, but the only downside is that, depending on how hard it's raining, you might miss out on the lovely garden and other outdoor activities there. Aulani is a lovely resort and you and your family will have a wonderful time!

Strangely enough, I've been to Hawaii before in March and it didn't rain then but another time I went in June it did rain (but it was warm). Hawaii has strange weather to mainlanders, as someone else mentioned. I enjoyed myself both times.

When you folks say rain, does that usually mean all day rain, or FL thunderstorm rain. Also, is it usally downpours or just regular rain. We'll be there in July/Aug of this year so we're trying to prepare, having never been there before.
