We are thinking about doing Aulani the first half of June. Any advice . . . weather? crowds? airfare? Thanks!

We went the first week of June last year. We thought it was a great time to go. Weather was great. We did have one rainy day, but that could happen anytime. We went Friday-Friday because airfare was slightly cheaper than Saturdays. I think the resort was fairly full, but it never felt overly crowded. Getting a pool chair wasn't impossible, but good spots were gone by 8AM or so. A lot opened up after 2 or 3. I think this is all year though. The lines for food and such were never more than a few people.

Thanks for the input! Yes, we are looking at airfare too and trying to figure out best days.

We flew mid-week (Tuesday) as it was cheaper still… Aulani's point charts went up for this next year for summer starting in mid-June which makes early June more desirable and likely harder to get than in previous summers. As such, if you have the points to burn for an OV it may be easier to get if you have to. And definitely if you can't get early June and have to go in the "Premium" season - the lower point value rooms like IV are the harder ones to get. We had an IV and it was OK - I mean it was still HAWAII after all. I had requested a room over the lawn where they do the little show but the resort was 100% full due to a hurricane passing and we didn't get our request. We truely weren't in the room all that much tho for it to matter - mostly just on our first day as there was still the matter of the hurricane passing so it was raining. After that we were always out & about. An OV would always be nice to have - just not "necessary" if you can't afford it. We love Hawaii and we hope to be able to go back one day in a few years (DS is now in college so luxury vacations are on the back burner for the college duration.) Good luck - have fun planning!

Thank you! Yes, the ocean view is pretty much all that is left even before the 7 month mark. We have #2 son graduating from college the end of May, so this would be a celebration for that and my 50th birthday in early June. When did the Hurricane pass? I see that June starts their hurricane season, which doesn't sound fun.

This was summer of 2014 - in August. There were 2 hurricanes almost following each other within days - the first one was the real problem for us. The second one only affected our plans that week for surf lessons on the North Shore - they had to get moved to a diff. location. We had stopped for a few days at DLR first and really thought our flight would be canceled but it wasn't - on the bright side Hawaiian Airline was waiving change fees so more than half of the plane had canceled and opted for other arrangements so the plane was easily half empty! BUT when we finally got to Aulani people who were supposed to have left hadn't as they had changed their plans to avoid airport delays etc. so that's why we didn't get our request. We stopped at the Target on the way for "storm supplies" (read: booze) and they were sold out of water (but I had bought 3 large liter size bottles at the airport after we got thru security).

How was doing Disneyland first? We are debating doing that. Driving myself crazy with trying to figure it out. I have a room booked at VGC, our home resort, but can cancel and book Aulani at the 7 mo mark. Going nutty debating!!!

We really enjoyed it (although it did add some to the cost of our tix). Coming from the east coast it was really helpful on the jet lag. I have a mostly finished trip report in my siggie if you're interested - this trip was a long time coming as it was orig supposed to be in 2013 but due to a medical emergency with DS we had to cancel it 8 days out! (I am always bad about finishing the t.r.s) After what we went thru the previous year we couldn't believe we might not get there again due to these hurricanes! But we did. And IV was fine. We were there finally.

We went last June from the 10th-20th. I think it definitely got a bit more crowded by the end of our trip but not bad at all. Loved everything about it. Weather was pretty good. Did have rain one afternoon and one evening but neither lasted very long. We are going back this upcoming June. Have the 6th-18th booked but will decide for sure once we get plane tickets. They seem to be running about $250-$300 more each ticket this year.

We're going to Aulani from June 13th - 23rd. We booked a 1BR IV on the notion that we aren't in the room much either. Our airfare was pretty terrific. We are flying direct from the easy coast on United for $890 per person. Much better than last year, which was $1100 pp.
