Aulani - here now - post your questions

So 2 bathrooms?

Sounds like 2 sinks, 1 tub, 1 shower, 1 toilet with separation to allow a family to get ready for the day.

Is that right? I just live the AKV-Kidani 1 bdrm layout and wish they'd do it everywhere. Not to over share but otherwise everyone has to get up early and potty before dad gets in the bathroom :)

Here is a 2 bedroom layout:

This is not a lockoff, but a plain 2 Br.

Hope that helps...

Two bathrooms:
one has a tub, sink and closet
one has a big shower, sink, and toilet.

Only one toilet

Are there any new Adult Only Areas?... either an Adult Only Pool or special section for the loungers? We really enjoyed our stay at Aulani last February, but felt overwhelmed by children everywhere... especially unsupervised children in the hot tubs.

We've been to the spa, and know about using that on the day of your signature treatment, but that isn't something we can do every day. We're hoping for some specific "Adult Only" areas with the renovations/construction. If Disney can figure out how to do it on the cruise ship, we're hoping they can figure out how to do it at Aulani!

No, unfortunately....only a children only area....no adult only area. See my post above about our experiences with that.

This is such a good thread. Thank you to all with experience. I have a few questions too as we will be going to Aulani in March 2014.

1. Is the Target a Super Target? I know we're in Hawaii but two or three nights of our 12 we would like to beach it and eat in. Can I get supplies to grill (chicken or Hamb) and lunch supplies for picnics?

2. We were thinking of the following restaurants any thoughts?
AMU AMU
Paradise cove
Roy's
PCC luau
Monkey Pod
Germains Luau
Naupaka Terrace (JW Marriot)

3. Can you book the Fire school surf lessons at Aulani or should you book those before you leave home?

4. Are any of the dinner/sunset cruises worth it?

5. We plan to go to Pearl Harbor (early Morning), Dole Plantation, North Shore, and PCC. Not really hikers- what other sites do you recommend?

6. Is one beach better than another at the North Shore?

I know these are a lot of questions but there really isn't another area to ask them. TIA
If you go to the North Shore, be sure to try Ted's Bakery! A little hole in the wall place with fantastic baskets! Oh, and desserts!

Hope you enjoy your cruise. If you have time when you get back to Aulani, would you check to see whether PBS is one of the TV stations on the Aulani lineup? I will be there during Downton Abbey season and am embarrassed to say that it is the one TV show I don't like to miss.

Too funny! My wife and I love watching this show.

Ha! :rotfl2: We'll be there right in the middle of Downton Abbey too!. I'd love to know if PBS is one of the stations so I don't have to miss an episode. :flower3:

Thanks all. Perfect. With two grown dd's I was more concerned with two showering/dressing areas rather than 2 toilets.

We shared a 1 bedroom with our 30 something son in February, and the set up of the 1 bedroom worked great for us. We just had to remind everyone if you locked the door on the shower room when you were in there, you had to remember to UNlock BOTH doors when you left! DH had a problem remembering that!:rotfl:

Hi - thanks for doing this! I will be at Aulani on the 26th. Is there any pin trading at Aulani?

Yes, there is pin trading at Aulani. Not many CMs wear pin lanyards -- the CMs at the DVC Preview Center are the few that do -- but there are trading pin books at the General Store, the Concierge, the Community Hall, and, I think, Auntie's Beach House. Just ask the CMs and they will show you the books.

Hi folks.

We are now docked in Honolulu waiting to get off our ship. A quick review of the POA cruise.

Wonderful ports. Maui, Hilo, Kona, and Kuaui. Beautiful scenery, lots to do. The ship however leaves something to be desired. Service at a snails pace, food that is only adequate and entertainment that was geared towards a much older audience.

We will be checking into a 1BR OV at Aulani in a little while and I'll resume answering questions.

See ya soon!

How is the weather? Weather.com is showing scattered showers for the next 6 days...

Sunny and beautiful at the Dole Plantation.

ETA: now back in Ko Olina and its just as beautiful here.
