We are planning a trip to Aulani in September and have heard that food at the resort may not be the best option. I'm hoping by then, Disney will have it straightened it out. Is it getting better? What are the best options in that area? I listened to the Podcast about the food (Roy's, etc) but would like to know what else is available. We are not very adventurous eaters.
Thanks!

We just got back. There is an ABC market at the little strip mall across the street. Costs were comparable to the Safeway in kopalei, and selections was pretty good. I'd suggest going there. You can also get premade sandwiches, hotdogs, salads and stuff in the food place inside the market.

Another vote for the ABC Market if you are looking for sandwiches or takeout. The burger there was great and about half the price as the one at One Paddle Two Paddle. We had a 1BR so we bought some groceries from Target and made our own breakfasts and some dinners.

Have had two lunches at Ama Ama and both were wonderful. Especially the kids mac & cheese. The shave ice by the pool at the resort is also pretty darn good.

Roy's across the street was closed in mid-December (right before our first visit!) due to a kitchen fire. Has not been reopened as far as I know. If they are by your visit, get the souffle.

We liked Koa Pancake House in Kapolei. Zippys is another local chain that is tasty in Kapolei and I consider classic local food (somewhere between fast food and a diner, try the Apple Napples/malasadas/or andagi [all deep fried doughy deliciousness] in the bakery portion of the restaurant). Other than that you'll have to go a bit farther afield for something more special than Outback.
