Aulani Event at Grand Californian?

I was at Disneyland today and stopped by a DVC sales booth to check for any updates on the Aulani. The CM said there is a DVC Aulani event at the Grand Californian (Trillium ballroom) at 9am on July 1st. He said point charts/pricing would be released and sales would begin at the event. I asked him why I hadn't heard of the event, either online or in the mail (not that I'm in the know or anything, but with DISboards and my guide who knows I'm excited for Aulani I figured I would have heard about an event 10 days away). He said it was happening last minute and that they'd expected to begin sales later in July but had just pushed the date up. I asked if this was tied to the D23 event the night prior, to which he responded it's not exclusive to D23, it's for DVC members and non-members alike. I've emailed my guide to confirm the validity of the information and am waiting to hear back.

Hope this turns out to be true! Just yesterday I mentioned to a friend that I was guessing July 15th for Aulani's official announcement date. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Let us know if you hear anything from your Guide!

It looks like it to me. http://d23.disney.go.com/expo.html The website doesn't mention any D23 event on July 1st.

OK, just got a call back from my guide. She said yes, there will be an event running July 1-7 that includes the Aulani, but she could not share details as of yet. She added that she'd call me on Monday of next week with more information. I tried fishing for more on the July 1st event mentioned by the DVC Kiosk CM, but that's all I could get. Sounds like they're trying to keep the details quiet until next week.

Yay!! I was placing odds on it going on sale after the D23 event...I mean really, the writing was on the wall when they said

You will have the opportunity to chat with the D23 team and mingle with your fellow D23 "Ohana" (family, of course!). Disney Vacation Club Cast Members will be on-hand to answer questions about this new Hawaiian Resort — and other properties — and if you're interested, you can sign up to attend a session that week to learn more about Aulani and Disney Vacation Club.

we are going to be at DL and are wanting to buy Aulani. We will pop by the DVC desk/models to see what they are offering!

Well that doesn't suprise me, Aulani's is more for West coast people, I don't think they will put too much afford on selling it to East coast people. Like what they have done all those year to the West coast market up until VGC, but in reverse.

July 1st? That's a Thursday! At 9am...too bad I have to work. Stupid work. Can't go to DVC event because I have to work, and can't ditch work because I have to afford my DVC What a catch 22...

Both sounds good to me, I'm great at helping others spend their money! I'm supposed to be behaving and no more add ons.

Does anyone remember how to become the founder memebers at the last few resorts? AKL/BLT/VGC?? Always take me so long to decided, I have never been one before. Maybe this time i can be a founder member at Aulani.

What perks/specials/extras do founding members receive?

For one they usually get to pay more than people who wait to purchase! And I do mean that seriously.

AKVer's got their name on a tapestry and an african art piece for their home. BLTer's had their names places on the fountain at the resort. I don't think they received anything else. For VGC we received a framed print of VGC.

To be a founding member at VGC you had to make a purchase at DL prior to the sales of VGC and qualify to be a founding member. For AKV and BLT you had to purchase a certain number of points either within a certain time frame (AKV) or else to be in the first 1,000 or 2,000 (don't remember exactly) to purchase BLT.
